  1. @episiarch - Yeah I pretty much decided on the D-90 as it also lets me sample some of the D-300 technology and see if I need to step up from the D-200. Right now I do not see a real good reason for my needs but like most new technology I probably don't know I need it until I actually use it.
  2. The D90 is a bit heavier than the D50 but you, like everyone else I asked, Inducate that it is a great camera. As long as its AF sensor is the equal of the D50 i will do this sooner versus later. Thanks.
  3. I must have missed these earlier. That is some of the most beautifully patterned granite I have seen. Good job!
  4. Keeping on topic. Do you have any reservations about the D90? I'm thinking about getting one to replace my D50 as my backup, slog around SLR.
  5. Stick to what you know, like sodomy. If you actually had any experience photographing kids you wouldn't be on the side of the argument you are on. But then again, that's par for the course with you. Always the expert on everything, at least in your own mind. Good catch on the lack of the proper contraction, you certainly showed me how intelligent you are.
  6. STFU. Knowing people who have kids is not being a parent. It's like saying your Cassanova because you kissed your sister (or in your case your brother).
  7. You obviously don't have kids so your advice is a bit suspect to say the least. Yes and Yes. So make that three. You absolutely want and need the DSLR get a Canon since you already have some lenses. Then get some big ass memory cards and shoot like hell. Sorting through is easier than some make it out to be as you are actually reliving those moments again.
  8. A very happy birthday to you
  9. Wow, that sucks big time CB and no one deserves to be ripped off like that. Looks like the guy is somewhere in the UK. Might be time for some Haggis to be force-fed. Me: Another K340 from DOTU
  10. RIP Ballou
  11. See that depends on what the goal of the comparison is. My goal for example is not to find the objectively best components in my system but to find the combination of components that allow me to enjoy the music the most. That means to me a detailed but not fatiguing sound that is balanced across the frequency spectrum and gets the tonalisty of the mids right. I find, like JJ said, that if I concentrate on listening for specific things i do not hear the music but what I am listening for. Therefore, for me, I need a lot of listening over a long period of time before I feel i can adequately judge how well the component is working in the system. My point is that everyone may not have the same goals for their system nor the same criteria for a satisfying experience. Although interesting, that was a fairly caricatured presentation of the underlying data interpretation. That's why I gave up on doing "reviews" I do not believe i can judge a component for anyone else except myself.
  12. There is also a difference between saying "This is how we hear" and "This is our expectation for how the average person hears". But in general there is nothing really new here and why a lot of people spend a relatively long time comparing things in their system. And Poppy Crum FTW.
  13. This time of year I would probably take I20-I85-I95 (and loops) to minimize problems with snow/ice. You could still see some though so good luck.
  14. Congratulations to the NO Saints.
  15. Have a super happy birthday, Jeff.
  16. This system is totally non-copper after heating and it will have a 3-stage filter on the cold-water input. Being in the midwest does not mean I need to drink a nice organic cocktail with my water.
  17. We've talked about getting one for a while and this deal was too good. Really looking forward to using this. Most likely coming to our abode this summer.
  18. $139 on closeout at Home Depot
  19. ^^^ Wow, the resemblance is uncanny. I do want to hear it though.
  20. Yeah, I have little hope of anything happening at TPA. I have been waiting for over a year to pick up kits to make a balanced Darwin. Plus I have a certain fondness for the name.
  21. ^^^^Pffft ...
  22. In Salt Lake City I think even on marshland setting you would probably be OK.
  23. It takes time to get the new and improved model, dontchyaknow.
  24. @Tom - Hope you find the perfect music to compliment your pain meds @Aura - Sorry for your loss @Al - Sounds like whisk(e)y time. @anyone - So I am confused. Is Dan New Mike? Or was Al New Mike and that makes Dan New Al? The New Guy needs to stop moving around so much. Makes it too hard to keep up.
