  1. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see the EF5 as being anything special. That being said, I thought the HE-5 sounded very good out of both the Zana and BA back in November. But it was at a meet and I did not even attempt any serious listening.
  2. I would suggest you use the newest version of dbpoweramp for ripping and/or transcoding. If you have a multicore machine it will use the multiple cores for a nice speed increase. It also uses accuraterip so it will give you a bitperfect copy as quickly as possible. The newest version also works great for album art and metadata. You have a choice of sources and if you do not like the album art from those sources it is now very easy to add in any art work you want at the time of ripping. It is not free however, but well worth the cost, especially when you are starting a big project. There is no real advantage to using itunes with squeezecenter but there is no real disadvantage if you have nothing against using ALAC (apple lossless). With any of the current firmware revisions on the squeezbox family there is no longer any advantage to using FLAC over ALAC. If you already use itunes at all, then there is an advantage if you want one consolidated library.
  3. Unless you are getting a 10 year warranty I do not think warranty considerations are really significant, even for the "no longer" GM divisions. Also in that case the vibe may be a better bet as significant parts should not be a problem as long as Toyota is still around.
  4. I have had no problems using them on NAS servers as they are essentially "internal" server drives.
  5. Brent Doucheburger is a loser and has been ever since he was announcing high school football in Chicago.

    Canjam 2010.

First confirmed vendor is Woo Audio. Jack seems pretty psyched for it as he wanted a whole room.
  7. I compared the then current Nikon and Canon back in 2005 and the Canon consistently focused faster, had less shutter lag, and was simply easier to shoot with. My camera was a D200 and the Canon was a comparable model but I cannot remember which actual model it was, so if my memory is faulty it could at least partially due to the camera being better. Both were (are?) very good lenses but the Canon seemed better to me. Regardless, my main need is the flattest field macro I can obtain for reasonable $ and a versatile flash system, so I'm sticking with Nikon.
  8. Yeah they are pretty much the coolest lizard still here
  9. The base model is supposed to be at Sweetwater next week so I guess we will know by then.
  10. HERE you go.
  11. I changed my mind, I now prefer these to chameleons:
  12. Very nice. I just love the design aesthetic of the EC amps, not to mention Craig's attention to detail on both the circuit and chassis design. Congrats on a very nice amp Zippy.
  13. Didn't sombody in one of those hot and muggy states recently buy a KGSS?
  14. As good as that sounds, I have way too much invested in Nikon glass. Canon does kick their ass though on the fast telephoto's, at least as of a couple of years ago. I haven't bought any newish lenses for a while, too much new audio gear to buy.
  15. ^^^^That is a kick ass lens. Almost makes me want to switch from Nikon to Canon.
  16. I prefer Horned Lizards myself.
  17. I approve of this message.
  18. Congratulations on the new adventure. I have to echo the suggestions for the combo stroller/car seat/bassinet, it is a life saver (usually yours). We ended up using a Baby Bjorn as our son just did not like the sling, so you may not have the decision making power for that one. Breast feeding has numerous advantages for the baby but my wife also said it helped her shed those extra birthing pounds a lot faster. It can be a pain though if the little one then turns up their nose at bottle feedings. Don't be fooled into thinking you need a changing table, ours received minimal use as we usually just used a bed or couch. Get a bigger vehicle!
  19. Happy B-day to you.
  20. Happy Birthday Loos... Somehow that just doesn't sound right so have a great day.
  21. Well I cannot really you help you here as my knowledge of circuits is only slightly better than my knowledge of quantum physics. I will be watching this thread as I can certainly see a use for this in my future. So all you circuit gurus, get crackin'.
  22. The problem is that the HEV-70 is as bad an amp as the HE-60 is a good headphone. It is a severe, limitation of the HE-60 so if you are listening to the HE-60 through the HEV-70 all you are hearing are the HEV-70s faults not the HE-60s virtues or faults. Anyone who judges the HE-60 only upon hearing it out of the HEV-70 is doing themselves a great disservice. This is not dependent upon what you listened to previously, the HEV-70 sucks 24/7/365.25.
  23. So you really have not heard the HE-60.
