  1. A lot of people use the ECM8000 with REQ. There are calibration files for it knocking around on the Home Theater Shack site where the software is hosted.
  2. Sweet!
  3. ^^^ Great shot. Did you see Clarkson's "review" of his rental Sebring in the Times this week? Spot on about the car, a complete fucking tit about everything else, as ever.
  4. That's not . This is .
  5. Move to New England. Problem solved. I bought some of those cheap Keens from REI for next year's brief warm interlude. $0 after dividend. Thanks for the link.
  6. AudiogoN ForSale: Arcam DiVA A-85 AudiogoN ForSale: Musical Fidelity A3.5 Integrated Amp
  7. I don't suppose you'd like to trade for a 2-1/2-year-old with a Napoleon complex? I'd be willing to throw in some $$$ to sweeten the pot.
  8. Bumping this, my ER-6is have also bitten the dust. I'm not too sad, as I always found them a bit jangly -- for lack of a better word -- though they fit my ears very well with tri-tips. I understand the ER-4ps are a little smoother and bassier and was thinking of picking up a pair. Is there anything else out there in the same general price range that by consensus is a better buy? Guess I'm mostly thinking about the Super.fi 5s or Sleek SA6s. These are my walking the dog/knocking around town phones and are used straight out of an iPhone.
  9. Well, I posted all the ad copy a while ago in the last-thing-you-bought thread, but I thought I'd follow up after a while actually listening to it. Short answers: Yes, it's ridiculously tiny. Yes, it really does sound ridiculously good for its size. I would say it does honest bass down to the specified 80Hz and then some, which is quite an achievement for something that weighs all of 9oz. Mids and treble are clear and pleasant. At three feet or so, it will play louder than I'd care to listen for long. Remarkable given the physical constraints. Could you do better for $199? Sure, a pair of Audioengine A2s will make mincemeat out of it. Could you do better for the sort of application I had in mind? (Wife's office, hiding under monitor, any obvious speakers unacceptable.) I doubt it. Hats off to Dr. Appropriately-Germanic-sounding and all his crew.
  10. Sweet. I hope this works as advertised. I get crappy cell reception in my basement dungeon office but I'm sitting right next to my router.
  11. I think your clients should get a break on your hourly rate, since you are clearly combining business with pleasure.
  12. Right. And communism was a good idea, just never properly implemented. You certainly heard constant howls of protest from the finance industry during the decade or so when they were being "forced" to make billions of dollars in profits off of the subprime market. Didn't you?
  13. As opposed to the outstanding success of the unfettered free market in running us into this ditch to begin with?
  14. Offered without comment. Obama 08: The Official iPhone and iPod Touch Application
  15. Is it really surprising the "high end" market is so full of bullshit artists, given how much of it is based on pure bullshit?
  16. Good luck!
  17. I would be in like Flynn. And can fit quite a lot of beer in the back of the Volvo.
  18. I got my friend a pair of OK2s for his birthday to use with his iPod and he's all so I was thinking of throwing in something basic for his PC. I know this is one of those questions, but I guess I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful USB DAC/amp that will leave some room to grow with harder-to-drive headphones. Thinking Total Bithead budget -- is there a better way to go (including used and DIY) for that kind of scratch? All suggestions welcome. Except "buy him a Pico." We're not that kind of friends.
  19. Nice-looking rig apart from the shitty amp. Get real and get a Predator noob!
  20. That's what some pretty smart people thought about WaMu at $8 a share and Bear at $35 and, maybe, Goldman at whatever Buffett just bought it at. Picking a bottom is an inexact science. Even for scientists, Beefy.
