  1. She & Him - Vol.2
  2. I see your points. However my system is already configured to be fed by 2ch sources, so having additional sources for all the amps isn't a real advantage. It'd be just giving some use to gear that would rest unused. Not much of a point paying for 6 channels I don't need. Pros will use them, but not me. Then there's the pro oriented issue. If the current ULN-2 is pro oriented, I don't see why an improved ULN-2 wouldn't be too. I'm quite happy with the "main" DAC I've been using for the last 7 years or so, not really into "improving" it. Getting the ULN-2 would be more for the AD capabilities than for the own DAC. However if for a sensible price I can get also an interesting DAC, why not. I might sell the DA-11 -or bringing it to this system- and still having a computer compatible DAC that sounds good. Like the DA11, I'd only use it for computer as a source duties, playing HR files, not for the CDs I have at home.
  3. Anyone knows if a 2ch alternative (or ULN-2 upgrade to ULN-8 specs) is going to be released? I think it'd be great having a good 2ch AD/DAC with the sonic improvements the ULN-8 seems to have over the ULN-2. I find the ULN-8 "interesting", but I won't buy a 8ch device for 2ch only use.
  4. That sucks Dinny Take care of yourself.
  5. stunning. Congratulations for such a nice built. I hope you can listen to it soon
  6. My favorite ones are the lever models by La Pavoni but are very expensive and not very practical. A friend has one, so I know first hand how good is the espresso they make. More affordable are the Saeco, though not sure in US/Canada. The Aroma is quite basic, affordable, makes good espresso... I'm owning one for 3 years without any problems: I purchased a DeLonghi and returned it. It didn't make espresso but just regular coffe, looks like it didn't have a decent pump, just allowed the boiling water to pass through the coffee. It also seemed not very well constructed. Gaggia machines are cool too, I've seen them and tasted their coffee on many bars and cafes here, but never tried any home use model. I guess they must be expensive too.
  7. Have a great one
  8. That looks awesome Tyrion, but it probably sound better
  9. Congrats naaman, a girl!! that's wonderful Good luck Bigguy, I hope it's a short term circumstance. Dinny, I can't recall why you're having a MRI, the one having problems in the knee was Nate... Oh my god, this looks like an asylum, we're growing older. I've got a pain in the back which awoke me tonight, and I'm on call today I'm afraid it's a dorsal vertebra which dislocates, it did about 6 years ago, but they managed to reposition it and didn't give much trouble until this whole week

  13. I don't keep a pic of my first HiFi rig, that was about 30 years ago, but I've found pics of some of its components: Dual 1225 turntable. Don't ask about the cart VIETA (Spanish brand) integrated amplifier with phono input. Mine wasn't this exact model, but looked a bit similar. You get the idea though. Marantz (Superscope era) cassette deck. Again mine wasn't exactly this very same model, but came quite close with the big VU meters, phones out, mic inputs... No luck finding the speakers, they were an obscure brand named "Jackson". They were 2 way monitors, not exactly "bookshelf" but not very big either. They served well for 3 or 4 years until I managed to burn the coils Hey, I was 17 or so and we were partying My first headphones were closed, with coiled wire and a volume pot on the right cup. I can't even remember the brand, but I can remember they weren't good at all, I much preferred listening through the speakers.
