That's sad, although I had no idea she was 87 years old. A true pioneer. We are going to make her bright pink cranberry relish for Thanksgiving as an homage. We've made it a few times and I quite like it, although we will make a more standard version as well. One and done, with quesabirria tacos today. I'm With Her was enough and now we're happy to be back in Fairfax before the traffic jam.

After the morning jaunt, the plan was to start with Dan Tyminski but I took a nap instead. Claire went and enjoyed it. I arrived at the blanket one minute before Cimafunk started, which was pretty ideal. They are from Cuba but live in New Orleans now apparently. Fun stuff. Made our way to the adjacent stage in time for Tweedy to come out and bore the snot out of everyone. The sun was in his face and his deathly pallor clearly indicated that was not routine. When he finally spoke, he said that he didn't know the sun would be here and "that's not cool, man." Wilco's California Stars was the only song that got the crowd going. At the end of the show he said that it was the first show touring for his new triple album, and thanked us for listening to a lot of new stuff. Definitely the weakest of many Tweedy shows I have seen with Wilco, solo, and with this band with his two sons that he used to call Tweedy. Oh well.

About sixteen hours after returning to California, we sauntered down to HSB in person for Corey Harris, a bit of Shawn Colvin, Margo Price, a tad bit of War and Treaty, and then Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats. Going to head back in later this morning for the Watson Twins...

Claire kept looking on the bright side but later admitted to making the wrong decision to carry on. Oh well, we survived and we're taking it easy today.

Claire and I signed up for the 40th annual group ride put on by a large local cycling club. It was this morning and was supposed to be 38 miles. The weather forecast had a chance of rain starting at 2:00pm when we would be back home already. Thunder rumbled after the first few miles, however, and then it started pouring rain. We pulled off the road and stayed under trees but still got soaked. We were right next to an empty house where two other riders were sheltering under the eaves so we did the same on the front porch. It slacked a bit so we resumed but that was when the hail/sleet started. We pushed on stupidly to the first food stop instead of going back to the car, and we found 40+ people trying to get out of the rain under two 10x10 tent awnings. We called it at that point but still had to ride another five miles in hard rain to our car. Ironically, the rain stopped as we got to the car, but we were freezing, completely drenched and 19 miles of that mess was plenty. It took a couple of hours to warm up as it was.

RIP to the legend. I loved The Sting as a 10 year old moviegoer, although it was eclipsed by Paper Moon which came out that year too because I kinda crushed on Tatum O'Neal who who was also 10 at the time.
