  1. I'd say get the 4870 or 4890 over the GTX 260/275/280/285/295/whatever. Hard drive: The WD Cavier black is an amazing hard drive. The extra you pay for the black over the green is well worth it. As for the psu cable: Corsair will most likely give you one. Can't hurt to ask, the worst they can say is no.
  2. I think what he's refering to is that the FET is screwed to the case without a means to insulate the FET from the case, resulting in possible issues with grounding / current running through the case.
  3. From what I've been led to believe, around 1/2. Corsair TX850 Power Supply Review testing methodology Not that the power supply drops under 80% under regular use.. only the crossload test, which isn't as common as in the athlon XP days, and the HOT test 5, which loads the psu to 100% load. That, and buying a bigger psu means more headroom for upgrading further down the road.
  4. It's a good price for a good power supply. Especially if billy wants to do SLI (which he mentioned in his first post). Power supplies also only draw the power they need and not the rated wattage (850w in this case). There are other options for less: Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX 520W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies

  7. If all your programs support 64 bit (ie: nothing is 16 bit, as 16 bit things don't run) and your hardware has 64 bit drivers, then you shouldn't have any problems if you do go with 64 bit which I highly recommend.

    Top Gear

The first episode wasn't bad, but I'd have liked to see the lotus go around the track.

  10. tkam's is pretty much what you should go for, with the exception of the power supply. It only has 18 amps on the +12v rail, and the build quality is pretty mediocre. Try this power supply instead: Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies

  13. What you do is you install a version lesser than the one you purchased; for example, if you purchased ultimate upgrade, then install basic or premium or professional. Don't enter a cd-key while installing this lesser version. Once it's installed, open Computer, right click the cd-drive, and select Explore. Run Setup, and then upgrade it to the version you actually bought.
  14. Welcome, and make sure you read that PM.
  15. Wonder what it's going to look like.
