Schiit Gungnir DAC

Featured Replies

I'm interested in both this and the matching amp. Not a bad pricepoint, but I would definitely need to demo.

Schiit has a 15-day money back guarantee on all their products. To demo just order and return (which they're fine with.)

15 days seems a bit short but I am definitely interested in the DAC and amp.

Wondering if this and the new Mjolnir could possibly make a nice $1.5 system. Also really curious what's gonna end up in the signature dac.

Anyone have good experiences with the Bifrost?

Looks cool. I like this: "USB 2.0, 24/192, Async, Completely Buzzword Compliant

Yes! I love when a company like that shows a sense of humour, it's quite refreshing!

It seems a great value. The only all balanced amp I know of at a similar pricepoint is the Little Dot MKVI, which I used to own. I thought it was ok, but nothing special. The Meier Eartube trounces it on most regards!

I'm quite optimistic about this and the Mjolnir. What's with the names, though?

Norse mythology. Gungnir is Odin's spear and Mjolnir is Thor's hammer. Therefore their reproduction of music is divine?

Hahahaha now that's a good interpretation laugh.png

To bad they can't spell the names correctly. I wonder how many realize the name is bif-röst and not bi-frost....

I hear one should only wire up Schiit gear with Nordost cables. Maybe a nice pair of Odins? :palm:

I take it to mean that it will pierce your eardrums and give you a pounding headache.

An equally valid, if more painful, interpretation.

Yeah you Nordic types have all those weird extra letters.

... And weird dots and lines that go through them

umlaut is a most badass form of errr... something or another. The more the better. example, this swell Finish album:

Hey, if you used our lovely letters then you'd type less. For example, though would be þó. grin.gif

Edit. I really don't know what the Finns are adding to their water supply to end up with that...

How many keystrokes does it take to type þó? ;)

I am thinking copious amounts of marijuana was involved in the making of that album/band. It's droning blues/guitar rock sort of stuff.

Have you not heard of Ellis Island Sir? This country has a long and rich tradition of butchering names. Don't fuck with us Sprizzer! smiley-taunt002.gif

Easy for you to do this on the other side of the world. I'd like to see you do this in person the next time Thor is in town. Then I'd be impressed...
