Stripped the huge LS decals, cleaned and re-finished the frame, and it got new ones, a new head badge, new cassette and chain.
Since I stripped down the bottle cages to refinish the frame, changing pedals, I decided to go weight weeny and put it on the scale. The wheels are actually not particularly light.

That is amazingly light for a Ti frame bike.  Pounds lighter than the Lynskey with Mad Fiber wheels on it.

So Brent really did fill your Lynskey frame with lead shot? I thought he was kidding.

Brent can't afford lead shot.

We need to keep reposting a combination of Brent's injury pic and his post crash tree smashing pic here so that is what I see in Tapatalk every time I look at the Cycling thread.

anyone know of a place that sells vintage shimano parts, the shifter just cracked off the 24 year old cannondale tube

shimano 105sc   sl 1056  with bolt thru the tube

(or recommendations for a new bike in the $2k to $3k range because anything i'm likely to do is going to be a hack job)

found a generic repair kit that may or may not actually fit the down tube. instructions say to epoxy all parts of it together to the tube, who knows, its a cheap thing

Is this the replacement you bought? Supposedly according to one or more of the above threads, a Cannondale dealer could get the correct parts. Kozy's is a Cannondale dealer, but it looks like there are a number of them in the Chicago area. Might even have one laying around.

that is what I bought, should be here tomorrow, really don't like that you have to epoxy everything together.

The cannondale part number is A095 Kit, Shift Boss, 1.75 inch diameter tube, listed as obsolete

please pm the seller and see if he will sell just the whole shifter set

I'll try contacting him tonight.
I guess I'm a bit unclear as to what your problem is, and I've never worked on a cannondale before.
Is the shifter itself broken or is it just the shifter boss assembly?
I would still try calling Kozy's or other dealers as you never know what they might have laying around. Particularly if it is an older mechanic or owner who knows these and knows how to fix them.

shifter boss assembly is broken, the threaded rod has the remains of the attachment for the right side. sent an email to kozy, nothing back yet.

also ordered thread repair kit with m5 inserts, and 1 meter long 5mm threaded rod.  first kind of epoxy pulled out in a minute, trying torr-seal now.

the way it worked was that the rod was attached to the one end with thread lock and then the other end, you can tighten down and then the black piece holds it all in place. then the shifters are attached with bolts on each side.

PM'd the guy, will let you know the outcome.

 

Also, another thread on bikeforums. Some shop in CA had them at one time (2011). Also some discussion of the NOVA kit.

the torr seal is holding for now, hopefully the parts coming in are usable. But if you can find someone with the original parts new or used or even broken I will be able to remanufacture with the threaded rod. Very surprised at the idiot that designed this, way too much stress on a 5mm threaded rod with 75th side walls

may even switch to brake handle actuators and then recreate the stops for the cables

You may be able to use these to convert your down tube shifters to handlebar thumb shifters.

Designed for bar end shifters but should work for down tube levers. You can always check with Paul.

The guy on BF got back to me and said I can have the downtube mount, just needs an address. You want to pm me your address and I'll just have him ship them to you.

 

He's leaving tomorrow for the Dairyland Dare, so wouldn't be until next week sometime before he could ship this.

 

As for converting this to more modern indexed using brifters/ergos, you would need to replace the rear wheel, rear derailleur, and the shift/brake levers. Maybe the chain rings or crankset as well. You would need 130mm rear spacing which isn't done easily on an aluminum frame like a Cannondale. Not like steel, which you can cold set. It is only 2mm per side, assuming yours is set up for 6-7 speed (126mm).

its an 8 speed and I am told the shimono handles are a direct replacement once you deal with the cable stops

the down tube is 1.75 inches so other solutions will not work
