Wasn't sure the best place to post, but this is pretty cool.  Chris is my nephew, he is brilliant (as is my niece, they met at MIT). https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-astronaut-chris-william

Few more from the interwebz via my drive.  The one about chocolate I especially love because it is SO much Karen - sent it to her sisters and one said she cried she laughed so hard.

The cat looks really embarrassed

Unsurprisingly, A fair amount of UK specific context is assumed, but a lot of this has been in the global news because of the people involved and public interest. Besides, it's nice to have a cold open / any content without a certain individual. Enjoy.

Oh, man....I just had a triggered flashback (no drugs involved!).

My grandparents used to take us 3 boys out to an IHOP near their condo many (many) years ago.  Tuesday nights were 2-for-1 pancake nights; always super-busy with lots of "opinionated" older people.  I would often order a huge apple pancake, quite good and could never finish it so would have leftovers.

One time, the waitress delivers my dish, and my grandmother practically jumps down her throat, saying "...it looks sick, bring a new one...." (it DID look like one of those above).  I saw the harried and worried look on the waitress' face and told her to leave it, I'm sure it will be fine.  Relieved, she did, and indeed it was fine.  Later I got a nice smile and a mouthed "thank you" from her.

Since then, I will always give the "first" pancake the benefit of the doubt 🙂

Funny the stuff one remembers.....I must have all of like 10 or 11 years old.

One of my oldest Facesbook friends is Matrix Synth.  He started out as a user and is now a "page."  He mostly posts ads for synth gear on sites like Reverb and the 'Bay.  In spite of not being in the market for any synth gear (ever, sadly) I enjoy keeping tabs on his posts.  Today he linked to this listing for a virtual analogue widget that is completely unfamiliar to me.

Apparently the unit runs damn near 3000 GBP new.  It's "virtual analogue" so purists won't like it.  I'm not quite so snobbish.  What's surprising to me is that I've never heard of this brand of synthesizers before.  In any case, this has been your moment of synth porn.

Apparently a very small US presence -- three dealers.

I took my daughter to see Jean-Michel Jarre maybe 12 years ago in Birmingham (UK). I got us tickets in the middle of the front row. Now I've seen Jarre before, so I warned Liz of a spectacular entry. Sure enough, fan of light and then a fist comes through it.

Once it really starts, Liz says "wow - he's cute"; so I told her that he was 7 years older than me - and he'd had a bit of work done to keep the cuteness factor.

It was, it has to be said, a totally awsome Jarre experience. Ancient synths, laser harp - the full beans.

Yeah, one of my life's regrets is never having seen him live.  Probably in my top 10 of influences in my life as a musician.
