April 15, 20242 yr I would happily own this sexy beast.... https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-cartier-santos-de-cartier-dual-time-live-pics HS
May 12, 20242 yr Me too! Speaking of Cartier, a medium Santos came my way. I’ve had the large for years now, and love it (it was my everyday watch before the Apple Watch), but the Medium really has a totally different character. It almost feels vintage, whereas the large feels thoroughly modern. Almost feels like an old Galbee. On my 6.75 inch wrist, anyway. The large wears like a Speedmaster. Definitely larger than my 40mm round watches, as it should. The medium wears more like my 35.5mm cushion Seamaster, and definitely wears smaller than a 1675 GMT. August 12, 20241 yr I was perusing one of the digital rags in my inbox and came across this gem in one of the articles. I very much like the dial and the size. HS
April 1, 20251 yr Here you go photographers (at least sunny 16 folks). https://petapixel.com/2025/03/28/this-watch-can-tell-you-the-exposure-settings-for-your-film-camera-nodus-obscura/
October 20, 2025Oct 20 I owned the silver dial original version, which I couldn’t read due to silver on silver, but a blue dial Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Calendar is on its way to me. I miss the silver dialed version, even though legibility was such an issue, so now that prices have come down on the secondary market I had to jump. November 4, 2025Nov 4 The JLC Calendar watch fell through (I think somebody offered more money on a different platform after my payment was accepted), so I scratched the JLC itch with a Reverso classic monoface small seconds. I like it much more than the GRUT I used to own.
November 9, 2025Nov 9 I feel a Speedy itch. Has anybody worn the new sapphire sandwich? Today I'm wearing the Cartier Drive de Cartier Extra Plat. It's my second. The very first one I gave to somebody, at a wake for their grandfather, while very drunk, right off my wrist. I always regretted it, so when I found a brand new one for $2100 I of course jumped on it. It's a perfect watch. I have it on a dark green Hodinkee epsom strap with contrast stitch (the 16m buckle from Cartier that I needed was dear for such a small little piece of metal). I'm glad to have it back on my wrist. November 24, 2025Nov 24 A new (well, to me anyway) Sapphire Sandwich is coming my way. I tried one on at an AD. As nice as the new bracelet is, I will immediately put it on a Forstner flat link. I’m excited: the new one is really the watch I always wanted a Speedy to be, minus the “heritage” I indulged in the Pre-moon with. I imagine I’ll keep the watch for life. Or until I give it away to somebody.
November 24, 2025Nov 24 Bit excessive but I got an unworn Platona from EWC. Traded the Lange 1815 Chrono and a couple of other watches I wasn't wearing much. We're all going to die soon, might as well enjoy it. IDK?
November 24, 2025Nov 24 I'm not even a watch guy, but that is a sweet looking watch. Congrats! Edited November 24, 2025Nov 24 by robm321
November 24, 2025Nov 24 That's a stunner! Love my chocolate on an oysterflex strap...zero regrets. Enjoy! HS I realized I never posted it.... Edited November 24, 2025Nov 24 by HemiSam
November 24, 2025Nov 24 Damn, those Daytonas are stunners! I had an opportunity to buy one in yellow gold for a good price about 10 years ago. I should have taken it.
December 1, 2025Dec 1 Sapphire Sandwich arrived. I neglected to make sure the stock bracelet had enough links, so it’s a good thing I had a Forstner Flat Link (which was a bear to size) ready to go. I’m very happy with it.
January 20Jan 20 Not an expensive watch, or particularly horological interesting, but I missed having one. It’s a lot of watch for the money. No more watches; I have enough.
