December 21, 201510 yr My two favorite places in SLO when I was in college were Gus's groceries (good subs, cheap beer, and laidback atmosphere - it's back) and Firestone Grill (for the tri-tip sandwich) but they may not be so good to go to when it's raining (all the seating at Gus's is outside).

January 1, 201610 yr Filet's with pan broiled shrimp and baked potato. Sous vide rendered a perfect medium rare, seared off after the water bath in a cast iron pan.
