But Audio Hijack Pro isn't built in - I use it to let me intercept and record streaming audio or any system audio for that mater. And it's nice for trying out different plugin's to alter the audio (Canz3D, Isone Pro, Apple AudioMatrix, EQ, etc). When I bought Fission it was the only way to create ring tones, but now we have a free way by converting the clip to AAC, dragging it out of iTunes to the desktop, deleting it from iTunes, renaming it to tone.m4r instead of tone.m4v, and dragging it back into iTunes.
