While I have not had to use Nikon service, I definitely miss Canon CPS that would do just about anything you needed quickly and free.

 

One usually only receives such sweet CPS service for the paid membership, and I only have the free Silver CPS membership; however, I was able to convince the CPS service rep on the phone to pay shipping both ways for the non-obligatory 5D III "light-leak fix" along with sensor/camera cleaning.  I also asked them to check out the Ai Servo AF system while it was there, which they promptly "adjusted" to factory specs and had at my doorsteps in like 3 days 

I still have a paid membership and wish Nikon had a similar program.

The Canon Holy Trinity are primes; 35 f1.4L, 50 f1.2L and 85 f1.2L.  I have had the Nikon equivalents 35 f1.4L and 84 f1.4 and there is no comparison.  The Canon blows the Nikon 85 away and I think the Canon 35 is a bit better than my Nikon 35.  Canon has nothing really like the 14-24 but I find I never bother using that lens so it doesn't mean much to me.  I also thought my Canon 70-200 f2.8L mkII was hugely better than my Nikon equivalent.

 

I believe the Holy Trinity is actually 35L, 85L, and 135L.  The Canon 135L truly is a wonderful lens that's bitingly sharp with super bokeh.  I don't believe the Nikon 135mm version is as precious.

Yeah I dropped the 135 as I never found a use for it but you are right.

^ Every time you mention that lens, I die a little inside for not having a Nikon rig anymore.

Just rented a 6D rig for the weekend.  Got the 24-70 and the 70-200 because those are the ones I have the most experience with with Nikon, understanding they might not be the best examples of the Canon lenses, though I've read good things about the 24-70/2.8 mk2.

Yup. It is actually up behind in the prism area. Not sure how it got there and doesn't affect the photos but annoying.

I just want the 40F2.8pancake for $150ish.

My wife took this beautiful photo, but she did it with the iPhone messaging app so it's only 1024x768 instead of 5 mpx (EDIT - strange, iPhoto says it was taken with her Nikon Coolpix camera, so why such a low res?)

I am tempted to buy a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 but already have the Nikon 35mm f/1.8.  This would be used on D90 or D7100 (if I upgrade).  Do you think this would be an unwise investment? 

I have not looked at the Sigma, but the only reason I would do it is if you prefer the *character* of the out of focus parts of the image (what bokeh actually means.) 

If you just want a lens that is a little faster don't worry.

What Ari said, unless, of course, you were planning on jumping to FF soon.  Then again, 50/1.8G on FF would be closer to 35/1.8 on D90/D7100.
