July 5, 201312 yr Amazon has them back in stock so I grabbed one and a few for gifts and that EF converter. Need to dig up some of my old Canon lenses.Which kit did you go with?

July 8, 201312 yr What about Canon's DPP (with lens corrections) or Adobes DNG converter? I actually like DPP, but I have many different Photoshop plug-in's that I need to use, so I would have to open the RAW in DPP, then use the "transfer to photosop" function, then use the plug-in's. I already do this sometimes, but it takes much longer time than opening the RAW in PS to begin with, and having both DPP and PS open slows down my computer. Not something I would want to do for every EOS-M file.. The more I think about it, if I ignore the low price of EOS-M, I KNOW I will not be using the EOS-M with EF lenses/adapter after the initial curiosity wears off. Then there is really no reason to stick with Canon for the "pocketable" aps-c. Since I kind of hate that old Canon 18 MP sensor's IQ relative to other companies' sensors, e.g. Fuji, Sony/Nikon, I think I'll pass on the EOS-M. In the end, it'll be worth it for me to pay more $$ for a pocketable camera I can get excited about..
July 8, 201312 yr While I ordered, and paid for, the EOS-M with 22 f2.0, five of these showed up today instead.
July 8, 201312 yr ^^^^ hmmmmm, 5 x $50 = $250 bucks to the good, Jeff. What now? What did they bill you? I'd rather the 22mm prime, but money is money.
July 8, 201312 yr They charged me for the 22mm lens kits. But I really have no use for the giant zoom lens.

July 8, 201312 yr Amazon. The focus is really quite slow, even with the latest firmware. Not terrible but I would not expect 100% success on shooting things that move.
July 8, 201312 yr I certainly like the feel of the camera better than the S100, which I always thought was too small, but I do miss the controls of the S100. I do not know where my S100 is but I will try to compare focus speed on the two, I think they are pretty similar. The touchscreen does seem to work well. I will try to take it out this afternoon to really try it out.
July 8, 201312 yr Some more samples. For $300 I cannot find a whole lot to complain about. Edited July 8, 201312 yr by VPI
July 8, 201312 yr Most of them are gifts. They will just have to suffer. I should have a 22 f2.0 at my office tomorrow.
July 8, 201312 yr Nice... Rip off the man for gifts, then get what you want for free with $50 for walk around. That's why you are the man. You buy next we meet.
July 8, 201312 yr I do not know why the 18-55 kit shows up as being more expensive than the pancake kit since both lenses sell for the same price. I definitely don't like working with such a slow lens. Who wants a whole flower to be in focus when the D800 and 35 f1.4 can give me such nice blur?
July 8, 201312 yr Nice focus on both. I do not know why the 18-55 kit shows up as being more expensive than the pancake kit since both lenses sell for the same price. Beach and Ritz are $50 difference in lens prices. J&R is $30. Some like Adorama have a sale on 18-55 only that distorts the difference. Will be interested if you see a difference in focus speeds between the two lenses. I ordered from Amadora because Amazon was out of stock. Then after sending a shipping notice Amadora sent a backorder notice and removed the item completely from online catalog. Then Amazon showed back in stock, so cancelled/reordered. We'll see what arrives Friday.

July 9, 201312 yr I guess this is the way new Canon EOS-M lenses ship? Nothing in the plain white box but the lens in bubble wrap.
