October 4, 200916 yr bwhahaha... MSC has insane shipping, I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up tomorrow
October 4, 200916 yr don't even go down that rabbit hole of fail, trust me just under bias the thing. Sounds like a plan. So if I want to build another one, would I need two of the huge DIYAudio group buy sinks per side? For the "bad" channel, what is the drop across R3 and R4 (2.2K)? I'll measure it tomorrow and get back to you.
October 4, 200916 yr until this point, I've just used an Xacto knife<snip> Hey! That's my trick. Had to laugh when I read that as an Xacto is the first think I grab...
October 4, 200916 yr Continuing on my own personal trail of fail, the BH comes up today way out whack from yesterday, but I can get both +- to 1v, and the delta to ground to about 3v on each side, but... Yesterday we set bias at 560v... today it won't go above 527v... what the fucking fuck? DIY was invented to try (wo)men's souls... and a walk through my DIY soul / sole would scarcely get one's feet wet. Thinking of some shallow, meaningless hobby - and no doubt there will be suggestions.
October 4, 200916 yr Yesterday we set bias at 560v... today it won't go above 527v... what the fucking fuck? Check your multimeter battery perhaps
October 5, 200916 yr yes, that's the dedicated breaker for the "drilling rig"... just whipped that up
October 5, 200916 yr Yesterday we set bias at 560v... today it won't go above 527v... what the fucking fuck? I didn't set it, did you?
October 5, 200916 yr I didn't set it, did you? I'm mixing that with Vulcan... BTW, great job on the Vulcan bias, Naaman. Fork. N/m... but, still begs the question what is the bias issue - rails are good at 373v at the boards, and the 30v is right on 30v at the psu. LEDs are all on. Like giving a monkey (not THE MONKEY) the controls to an F-16 in mid-flight.
October 5, 200916 yr Oooo, yours is bigger than mine, and can definitely handle a longer/deeper stroke.
October 5, 200916 yr This isn't the best example, or best pic (crappy mini P&S)... but: I actually tried to bevel that one slightly by using a larger head, but not that much (the picture exaggerates the bevel). That hole was made with a hand drill, so it already was sorta wobbly.
October 5, 200916 yr Oooo, yours is bigger than mine, and can definitely handle a longer/deeper stroke. I think the term is 12" throat.
October 5, 200916 yr where are you measuring the bias? Through the plug to ground AND at the bias leads connectors on the psu. Both say 528v (DC). Ran it for about 6 hours total - it seems happy.
October 5, 200916 yr Through the plug to ground AND at the bias leads connectors on the psu. Both say 528v (DC). Ran it for about 6 hours total - it seems happy. For the bias, measure it before the 4.7M resistor, not after. Everything should be good to go once you set the bias then!
October 5, 200916 yr Author Lookin' good Marc. That's definitely a good start on a man cave. I dare you to put a sign on the workbench that says 'Estrogen Free Zone'.
October 5, 200916 yr Lookin' good Marc. That's definitely a good start on a man cave. I dare you to put a sign on the workbench that says 'Estrogen Free Zone'. Then he'd have to stay away from it as well, as a small amount of testosterone is converted to estrogen in men
October 5, 200916 yr How about a biohazard and "High Testosterone Toxicity Levels" or something to that effect?
October 5, 200916 yr Author I'm just teasing Marc at any rate. He really does have ample man space as is, and he's allowed to bleed over into the parlor/dining room. How many wives allow that?
October 6, 200916 yr well, I bought this one today: 5" Machinist CROSS SLIDE VISES DRILL PRESS VISE - eBay (item 190339188874 end time Oct-09-09 15:43:27 PDT) We will see...
