Apples UI design has been going in the wrong direction (to put it mildly) for a while now. That dude will NOT be missed.

Linus Tech Squeaks have announced a new line of USB-C cables.

Video is mostly fluff, because Linus.

On the plus side, the cables are marked and while not TB certified, some in fact are.  Given what I've paid for TB3/TB4 cables, even with shipping these things are a bargain.

The Computer History Museum's Apple@50 live session from a few days ago. A lot of good info if you can deal with Pogue.

And by deal with Pogue I mean...

Shee-it.  I went to Chicken Alley today and they had an Apple A1407 Thunderbolt display for $28, sold "as is" because they had no means to test it.  I lugged it home and worked perfectly.

The only part I can't quite figure out is which revision this one is.  It has a physical latch that blocks off the webcam.  Every other version of the Thunderbolt Display that I've owned has lacked this feature.

I realize this is the Mac thread and not a headphone one.  Serious question: Are there a set of BT headphones out there with better noise cancelling ("ANC" as the tech bros call it) better than the Airpods Max(2)?  I am now in the market for one.

Spoiler

My special needs neighbor got a new electric leaf blower.  It's ear splitting.  I've measured 65 dB in my house when he's using it.  I'd like to remain out of jail.

For the drone of the leaf blower I would think most modern ANC headphones would be able to kill most of the noise but nothing is going to neutralize all of it.  Best bet is likely to be to use ANC plus some ambient music to really drive it into the background.  Best guess, but one that I haven't tried personally, would be the latest airpods + comply tips to hopefully gain a little passive NR.

I really don't like active noise canceling myself, but Bose and Sony tend to get mentioned a lot re: noise canceling headphones...
