Thanks guys, it's my first soldering project. My friend did the soldering on the first one. We put the boards in the cases today and made a bit more progress. Slow and steady.

Really glad we tested all the transistors this time because we found one shorted k216. Troubleshooting that would have been a hassle.

Looking good! Double T2 FTW! :D

Did you use some sort of heat transferring compound on the devices?

More progress today. Fired up the PS and all voltages are on except the +12v is +18.5v. The -12 is correct. I can't remember if this is wrong or not??

What part did you use on the positive rail? You might put it under load a bit to see what happens. Say, 50mA or so.

I guess you mean the 7812? It is a Fairchild.

I believe the On parts were recommended at some point in the thread, as the ones in the BOM that Kevin posted were not good. Check Inu's posts.

Yes, I remember it was said to stay away from the ST part, but I think Fairchild is all right? That's what I used in the first one.

Edit: Actually, it was the 7912 from ST that was the problem.

Ah, my memory is fading :) I'd probably put it under a load and see what the voltage does. Also, check the voltage right after the first cap, check to make sure the ripple voltage isn't insane. Check the same after the regulator. Compare to the other rail.

well, they follow the silk on the PCB at least :)

blubliss has the new power supply board with the silkscreen fixed.

The one diode in wrong was in the minus supply anyway.

Working PS now, seems like it was a bad solder joint on the 7812 ground pin.

Don't ya love when it's that easy?

For sure, and that little section only had about 8 parts, compared to all the other sections that have a kajillion parts to choose from. Phew.

Getting very close now, only sockets, pots, and knob to finish. I am so happy about completing it, I'm reluctant to turn it on and deal with the potential to sour my mood if it is not perfect.

Awesome shit dude! I'll be crossing my fingers for ya.

Here's to hoping it plays beautifully.
