  • What the fuck kind of books are you guys reading that require study guides and devoting years of your lives to? I am reading Russka by Edward Rutherford and I have not had to hire a support staff

  • Seems like a good day to start a biography of Pliny the Elder and  Younger that Claire got for me at Christmas.

A must for everyone's holiday reading list. I have to buy a new one every year because I always give mine away. My fav story is "Dinah the Christmas Whore." It's really very touching as well as being hilarious.

Well, I was trying to read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, but it was just taking too long. As such, I just downloaded the audiobook version of it and been listening to it on my commute.

Just finished Anthony De Mello's Awareness two days ago, started reading it again yesterday.

I'm a huge Anthony De Mello fan, though fandom is not the right vibe. Some crazy-ass Jesuit priest in a Hawaiian shirt turned me onto him years ago. In the words of Ken36, good stuff.

True, but this guy was such a well-meaning lunatic, and a flaming queen to boot, I liked him immensely.

I've loved every jesuit I've ever met. So that doesn't surprise me :)

Some crazy-ass but totally sane half holy man broken teacher turned me onto him. Its pretty much my favorite thing ever. Definitely "good stuff". :prettyprincess:

I can see his business card:

Fr. John Doe

Well-Meaning Flaming Queen Lunatic, S.J.

Rereading my two favorite books, Heroes Die and Blade of Tyshalle by Matthew Woodring Stover...about a sixth of the way through Blade of Tyshalle.
