April 18, 201313 yr I finally quit my job! After 3 years working in a casino I was sick of degenerate gamblers and greedy unscrupulous bosses. That is one disgusting world I hope I'll never be a part of again. I'm really excited right now I hope I'll be happier or at least sleep better.

April 20, 201313 yr Wow, Vicki. That's messed up. I know so well that feeling of weighing the option of doing what somebody really needs to do. Every ethical consideration in the world says you can't jump into somebody else's story but it would feel so darned good. ....Frustration sucks. Seeing what people do to each other sucks. It never seems to get better.
April 21, 201313 yr Joanne and I took the ferry into San Francisco to play tourist for the day, while managing to avoid earth-day and other "recreational" related activities. Hand crafted Artisanal Coffee. Check Only in San Francisco Musical entertainment. Check. Be thankful I didn't record the activities of the "World Naked Bike Ride: Earth day 2013 San Francisco Edition". You're welcome. Obligatory porky goodness. Check Chocolate. New American Chocolate. Check. And a refreshing long tall drink of choice. Check, Not a bad day all in all. Bonus points for seeing The Memphis Belle Flying over the bay. Edited April 21, 201313 yr by Grahame
April 21, 201313 yr Record Store Day. Monster crowds at Radio Active again this year. We nabbed some cool LPs. Had dinner at the Lotus. Adam Sandler was at the next table, greatly amusing a regiment of little kids - in-laws, we gather. Old ladies were making a fuss. Young women were texting the news to their friends. It was a strange scene. I guess the Lotus is just where the elite meet to eat. .
April 21, 201313 yr Helped continue to clear out my mother's apartment. Missed Record Store Day. Missed Steven Wilson (was on the Metro towards him when he finished at 10:18). Found US$3K in bonds in my name. Woo-hoo, I'll probably spend more in keeping them around until they mature. Weather was nice.
April 22, 201313 yr finally got my crowns in. Argh, this reminds me that I need to call my dentist. I hate dental appointments.
April 23, 201313 yr I thought porcelain crowns were the dearest ones. Or is it that nowadays all kinds just cost more than all other kinds just on general principles?
April 23, 201313 yr Porcelain (as opposed to porcelain-fused-to-metal) crowns are more expensive than gold crowns.
April 23, 201313 yr For me, it was opposite the last time I had an option to get a crown. Though it was still ridiculously expensive so I opted not to.
April 23, 201313 yr Agreed. In my case, it was going to cost me $3000 for the whole thing (needed a root canal, too) or $300 for a simple extraction. It was topp back tooh - I chose extraction.
April 23, 201313 yr Well, the part of the problem was that we (my wife and I) accidentally picked the wrong dental plan so there was less coverage than we thought. Also, I don't know how it works for other people, but for the dentals plans we can get, you get set amount of coverage for the year (calendar or fiscal, I never remember) and once you use it up, the insurance doesn't cover anything until the new year starts. By the time I needed my root canal, I had used up most of my coverage, so the root canal would've cost me $1500 and the subsequent crown would've cost me additional $1500. The kicker was when my dentist told me that there was a decent chance the particular tooth wouldn't withstand the root canal and he'd have to just extract the tooth, which would've still cost me $1500 since the procedure started out as a root canal (at least that's what I was told). I told him to just pull out the tooth.
April 25, 201313 yr Out of curiosity, what did you use to shave, Dusty? After trying out more than few different ones, I've found my wife's Gillete Venus cartridges to be the best ones when shaving my head. They just look funny when attached to my Gillete handle. April 25, 201313 yr Electric clippers and a mirror -- technically I didn't shave shave, I just clipped it down to 1mm or so.
April 25, 201313 yr A +1 for the Gillette Venus for head shaving. Out of curiosity, what did you use to shave, Dusty? After trying out more than few different ones, I've found my wife's Gillete Venus cartridges to be the best ones when shaving my head. They just look funny when attached to my Gillete handle.
April 25, 201313 yr And one of the girls here at the office immediately proclaimed that she liked my haircut.
April 26, 201313 yr Changed about 30 recurring monthly transactions from my stolen credit card number to another card that is rarely used anywhere, so it will be harder to steal. It was our mistake for using the same card in public as the card that pays for email, wireless data, satellite radio, netflix and everything else. Although the last card was fairly well guarded, here in Colorado at restaurants they do not bring a credit card terminal out to your table to pay for a meal, so any waiter or waitress has access to the card long enough to skim it. And I heard that some of the local gas stations had skimmers stacked onto the card readers, and my wife was using it to pay for gas. Someone actually made a new physical credit card with our data imprinted on it, and used it at the Sahara in Vegas. It wasn't some random person who just got the number, exp, and CCV2 and bought stuff online (although they did also buy an NBA live online subscription). I hope they catch the bastard.
April 26, 201313 yr They rarely try unless they have something concrete to go on. I've turned in a distinct clue on at least two of mine (out of 3 or 4). I knew exactly who it was in both cases, it was just a matter of proof.
