It's only 100$ more than the Fold 8, and it's currently right in the middle of Z Fold 8 Ultra prices at 256/512/1TB models. The 2TB model is dear, but that's the market + Apple tax. Definitely pricey, but it's not necessarily out of line with other foldables. I think developers will have decent builds out of the gate with something rather solid sooner than people expect. I love messages/emails with my Fold 5 open. Don't do tons of side by side or top/bottom apps, but when I do it typically is a smooth process.

I read the news that Sony shipped their last 4K Blu-ray player today, the UBP-X700. Panasonic is the last remaining mainstream manufacturer (Magnetar is niche and overpriced, in my opinion). https://www.tomsguide.com/tvs/sony-just-killed-its-last-4k-blu-ray-player-here-are-3-remaining-alternatives

The price of the Duo is just insane. Only rich first adopters are going for it. Economies of scale and further development should mean the costs will go down (and more apps will fully support Duos out of the box). I think iOS itself will take a while to find the best ways to get the most out of the Duo's screen real estate. Also, I think it will be a premium portable gaming handheld as well, once you clamp on some controllers.

hi all! I’ve built a few tube amps now, and I was hoping to tackle the Megatron XL next. I see a few revisions of schematics posted in this thread. Does anyone have gerber files and a BOM I could use to build PCBs? Thanks!

RIP BioWare: EA has shut down the legendary RPG developer.

I love my Galaxy Fold 5, though it's getting up there in age. Most of the apps I use on Android are well adapted to the folding size, and with how established the Mini has been in iPad land, I think 3rd parties will come out with solid builds faster than T$ thinks. I've been away from iOS for a couple years now, but while I was tempted by the Duo, the fiscally responsible-ish side of me says "Gen 2: Electric Boogaloo" is the way to go. Wish it had better cameras, though...

Mine actually gave up on me last year, and I was gutted, I'd had it for years and loved it. I ended up paying for a new motor and board too, but the whole thing left a sour taste.

Albert Anker (Swiss artist in the 1800's) clearly loved his coffee. There is another Girl drinking coffee, Still life with coffee, Bernese peasant woman drinking coffee, Still life with coffee and potatoes, Coffee and cognac, etc etc

I like the Duo, too. I think it will be mainstream in a few years.

I'll admit, Duo looks legit cool in these reviews. Also looks like it is going to take 3rd party software a little while (or a long while) to catch up to it. Happy to sit out this round but could be interested in Rev 2.0 next year.

RIP to Clif "Clif Hanger" Croce from the punk band The Freeze. Saw them in the 80's after their LP Land Of The Lost came out, great energy. Apparently they still put music out until about 2019! They had a song that was used as a title of a punk compilation, This Is Boston Not LA. Clif "Hanger" Croce of the Freeze has passed awaySadly, Clif "Hanger" Croce, Singer of The Freeze has passed away. Clif's bandmates stated that he passed away of natural causes. They add that they will release more info soon. The Freeze last release

Just a nice personal chat with Paul

Alec is a huge APP fan. Regularly sends me tracks.

The Apple TV is far too little for far too much money. The HomeView just looks like a spy device.

"In February 2024, he married Stella Schnabel, daughter of filmmaker Julian Schnabel. They have a son together."

RIP "Office Space" actor Richard Riehle who has jumped to his last conclusion.

Apple Music Now Available on Bluesound. I have to admit, I don't entirely know what this means. A bunch of redditors are quite happy about it.

I looked up Stereotomy - it got negative reviews and sold badly when it was released, but I think this song shows there were still good parts in that album. AllMusic says Eye in the Sky is Alan Parsons Project's only pure pop album, and I've had my eye on the Mobile Fidelity SACD edition of the album for years. Somebody uploaded the Mo-Fi I Robot - with YouTube compression, your mileage may vary: Also forgotten (from Gaudi in 1987): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggijVDI6h_0

I've been really enjoying this YouTube channel, Caffinated 80's, a mix of old remixes and home-made mixes. They did a Naked Eyes tribute when Pete passed away; they did an Alison Moyet tribute recently (I had to check whether or not she passed away -- she didn't, so probably just a loving tribute), and have several Alan Parsons remixes. Not Stereotomy, though.

There are long standing threads for speaker and amplifier porn on HC. Thus far, sources have been neglected. It's true, speakers and amps are in general better looking units than most sources but there are certainly some good looking ones out there. Let's start with a mid 80s Revox CDP that is a bit of a legend amongst collectors: The Revox B225. It's overbuilt like a MFer, which is good as it's also prone to failure and in need of extensive servicing. I just watched a really good YouTube video on repairing one while I was editing a whole stack of photos. TL;DW: A whole pile of Swiss engineering, dirty electrical contacts and a new motor. There were some variants with balanced out and at least one meant for professional use: Love those green lights.
