Headphones

In many threads concerning electrostats I come cross opinions that "you must get used to the electrostatic sound" and suchlike... Now I'm in a process of exploring my new Omegas. So can anyone explain what are the peculiarities that we must get used to?

I was able to listen to both of them for about 30 minutes and I thought they both sounded good. I think they are both in a similar league of headphone, being the best in each category. They are also around the same price. I guess the HD800 has an advantage of having more amplifiers available to be used with it. Has anybody had to chance to listen to both? What are your impressions as far as detail, being musical, or other preferences? I'm leaning towards the HD800, can anybody convince be that the Stax are better.

Hey yall im new to this forum but i have started to become and audiophile through the years (ever since i started listening to music (im 17 now) and i already own a pair of etymotyc reaserch ER-6i's and i really enjoy them for on the go. but i would like something for home, ive been looking through headphone.com but idk what to get im looking for a nice true bass, crisp mids, decent highs, can be noise cancelling but doesnt have to be. and all under 200$ (250$ okay but pushing it) also i have looked at some desktop/portable amps for my computer and ipod you can give suggestions for this but keep it around 150$(as i do not have a stereo system) any ideas??

A few days ago I decided to take the step up to much higher quality Audio. After researching my choices for around 200-300 dollar headphones for about 8 hours I ended up buying the Denon AH-D2000's for about $210 on amazon. My first step into high end audio was the Shure SE530 in ears which were nice, but i ran them over with my rolly chair and broke them :palm: Since then i've had the bose triport headphones and the bose in ear headphones, which have been adequate but very disappointing in terms of bass. I just bought a pair of these from Beach Camera (refurb) and initially I am not too impressed with them. I find them to be bassy and a bit bloated and lacking in midrange definition. Reading the mod thread on HF, it sounds like this mod would do what I think these need, but I was wondering if anyone here had done this mod and what your impressions were with it? Or would I be better off just getting rid of these? I was looking for an inexpensive closed can for home use; I need something that doesn't leak sound to disturb others in the room. I am driving these with a Dynalo, so plenty of power.

Hey guys, I'm planning on designing some leather Grado pads but I would like to get some suggestions as to whether people would prefer the pads being more bowl shaped or GS1000 pad shaped. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks

Hey guys & gals, I'm new hear but found this through Google. So awhile back I had my HD650's directly plugged into the front of my Mac Pro and I pushed my chair back and slightly bent the plug as well as the headphone jack in the Mac Pro. So for about two months, I'd have to jiggle the plug and keep tension on the cord in order to get sound from both drivers. Then about two weeks ago, I couldn't get the right driver to play. So I bought a new adapter to fit in my computer, nothing. So I tried my headphones in my Amp without the adapter, same deal, only the left side working. I've tried other headphones in my computer and they work. So, did I blow a driver someho…

Seems like Audio Technica is releasing an update model to their ATH-ANC7 called ATH-ANC7b. Audio Technica said the improvements made to the model include new electronics (not sure if they meant drivers, noise canceling or both), redesigned earcups for better comfort, the battery is easily accessible, and the package now has long and short cables. These East Indian Rosewood woody Grado 225s were the biggest and nicest surprise for me at CanJam bar none. Who knew Nate could not only build nice cables and amps, but is more than pretty handy with a lathe? The pics, as often happens, don't do them justice, but I'm loving the looks, and, lucky me, they also sound good. Thanks again Nate and Dan.

Well, I've had my first exposure to HD650s using push-pull amplification. I have to say, I'm stunned. I *hate* these headphones single ended, for reasons which I will list here. Their bass is loose and overwhelming; there is a very slight grain to their sound, which is more of a characteristic of most dynamic headphones in general to my ears (but not all); the highs are muffled and obscure the detail; the impulse response is slower than a Geo Metro; the tone is far too warm and there seems to be bass even where there shouldn't be. And I have no idea why Sennheiser decided to voice the HD650 this way - rather I can guess (more bass when underdriven), but I have no idea…

Has anybody heard the Senn HD238's? I am currently using PX100's for portable and am looking to replace them. From what I have read, seems like they may be a decent choice.

This time we are looking at some IEM or just entry level Shure. They are designed to work with music players on-the-go with high noise isolation. Bundle Nothing really special here, 4 sets of silicon tips of different sizes, a carrying case, a extender cable (you will need it useless you hang your iPod on your face.) Build Real solid product, looks and feels like it can withstand many years of abuse from me. I was reading various Sony brochures, but still can't figure this out. Will ECR500 box work with ECR 600 and vice versa? Does anyone here have ECR600 box? I will have two ECR500 boxes soon and would gladly trade ECR600 box for one of my 500 boxes it it will work with ECR500 to check out what the differences are.

Could anyone point out the precise differences between the Stax SR-202 and the SR-303? I understand that the difference between the '303 and '404 is only the cable, but I was wondering what about the '202? I have read something about it somewhere (how's that for being vague.. . I know some of you guys are very happy with your UE 10's and 11's, but those are well beyond my budget, and I don't think I'll ever be willing to spend that much. So I've been thinking these days about giving a custom pair of IEMs a shot. I don't know what kind of exposure HC has compared to HF, but I figured I'd ask here first. Of the customs that are moderately priced, I only know of the LiveWires and the FreqShow (their highest model??). I know there's the UE 5 also, but I don't remember hearing much talk about them as everyone seems to just get the 10/11's. hMm.. I listen to everything, so I'm looking for a good all arounder.
