K 340 Absolutely top class stereo headphones employing the two-way design concept. Each earpiece contains two different kinds of transducer system. One dynamic and one electrostatic system combine together to form an integral transducer system. The result is convincing: full, clear bass down to the lowest end of the audible range is reproduced by the dynamic system; transparent, neutral and brilliant treble by the electrostatic transducer. In the K 340 a crossover network is not required. Both systems are connected directly and acoustically tuned to avoid undesirable phase shifts or uneven frequency response in the cross-over region. Therefore, there is no loss o…

I never really was into the wireless Dolby headphones thing. However I find myself wanting something like that for late-night TV watching. (and apparently on the rare occasion that I do follow a series, my program choices are 'so gay'.) What's worth buying these days?

Probably a question asked many times, but I'll ask it again. My HD650 is toast. I need a new pair of dynamics. And I'm far too profligate for $350 phones. What has a decent chance of being released that doesn't sound like ass (even if you owned it, useless meet impressions notwithstanding)?

Okay, so here's the deal: My father has agreed to pay for headphones for me if I find ones I deem suitable. I'm looking for a minimum frequency response of 5 - 35K Hz, Closed, preferably circum-aural. At the moment the only ones that I've come across that look any good are Audio-Technica ATH-A1000, Audio-Technica ATH-A900, and Sony MDRD777SL ... I know that the Beyer DT770's sound good, but my ex who I'm friends with has those and it would be copying, and in the spirit of competition I'd like to see if I can do better than those... I've heard wonderful things about this site being blunt and to the point when it comes to it. Please help me get the best I can get. Th…

I have a beyond super modded HD580 headphone cable and decided to share SOME of the mods on my site for free. I know some of these are already provided online on places such as head-fi, but I know for a fact the last part is not on head-fi or anywhere else. If I had missed something or made a mistake somewhere feel free to let me know. http://apuresound.com/hdsennmod.html Enjoy! -Alex-

I figured I would start a thread for everyone to giggle at and get excited. The current status: ALL parts have been ordered. I ordered the stuff for the cable today: 4 pin XLR m/f -> 1/4 adapter via mini mogami neglex. I'm not currently balanced, but who's to say I wont stay this way

Head-Case exclusive! The result of Round 1 of the Stax vs. Senn battle is not pretty. The HD600 lies wounded, in two pieces and sans cable. To add insult to injury, the Airbow SR-SC1 and Lambda Pro have taken the HD600 and HD650 boxes for their own use.

Got mine in yesterday. Listened to them out of the Yamamoto... okay... so-so. Definitely higher resolution than the w5000s with much better imaging/soundstage. Bass is... well interesting. More prominent than in the w5000s and comes at you from an interesting angle (Not bad, or really even good. But interesting and different. Probably due to the massive soundstage). That was sourced with the EMU 0404 usb, i.e. my work rig. Took them home and sourced it with my Wavelength DAC and my Esoteric and powered with my SS-1. Okay pretty good as well. Definitely close to or equally detailed as the qualias. Better mids. A bit honky in the upper midrange right where it stops being…

Hi Everyone. There is one FS right now and I wondered how much one was worth. The seller said that he paid a premium for his and I didn't know how much one in that type of condition is worth? I'm looking to purchase it, but he didn't list a price. I'm interested in these since it seems that a lot of people like them. I do love my L3000s . Here is the link to his sale http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=265122. Thanks for your help Here are some pics that he posted:

This was not here when I bought these from jpak. Now I'm looking to sell these, and I see this white grunge on my headband: Is this something normal that happens to the headband? It doesn't seem to wipe off, but I'm not wiping that hard because I don't want to rip the material.

I got my cans and my amp back yesterday. The ps-1's are recabled with a custom beryillium copper alloy cable, and the rs-1's are recabled with a moon audio black dragon. The amps 1/4" neutrik was replaced with a 4-pin xlr and some of the wiring was redone. My initial impressions are that the sound is more open and 3d. The bass has become bloated, and the overall sound is less refined. I prefer the ps-1's over the rs-1's currently because of their added refinement and better sound stage, but the rs-1 midrange does have its moments. Biggie.

Based on the fact I posted my dislike of the Denon D5000s rather loudly (though admitted that they weren't bad cans) on head-fi, I received a few offers to let me listen to the D2000s. I finally took someone up on that, and for the past two days have been listening to a Silver Dragon recabled pair. From what I read, the 2000s were to be similar to the 5000s in sq, which made me think that they might be worth the bucks. I also read that they were comfortable, which has its own value. I now do not understand what people are hearing. I haven't yet tried them out on my main rig, as I've been kicked back here in bed the past couple nights with a Denon DCP-100, my Thrice-tweake…

After some suggestions and requests I decided to listen to the same set of songs, but with the different pads on the MS2i and HF-1s. Right now I'm enjoying the MS2is with flats, but I do like the detail that the bowls provide. Overall the HF-1s are in the middle of the two MS2is with the different pads (bowls and flats). It was fun doing this comparison. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and insights. It is much appreciated. Equipment Denon 2900 - DAC1 - PPX3 SLAM - MS2i Playlist: 1. Jack Johnson - Better Together 2. Taj Mahal/Toumani Diabate - Queen Bee 3. Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven (unplugged) 4. Diana Krall Live - East of the Sun, West of t…

Looks like I am going to sell my K701 and M^3 for a transportable upgrade. At the moment I cam trying to decide between the Shure E500/E530 and the UE Triple.Fi. They are roughly the same price. I guess I am looking for musicality, while still retaining good detail retrieval. They will be used with my ZV:M (linout) -> Mini^3. Any experiences/suggestions?

I have had my eyes on a super.fi 5 for a while, until I almost grabbed the triple.fi yesterday. Now I want a triple.fi.. but not at $400. So I am a bit worried about the form factor (that is what did me in for the er4, I couldn't stand it). Headroom has a nice price on the bstock super.fi 3, at $45 plus $12 shipping. That got my thinking. Then I remembered Radio Shack carried the super.fi 3 'studio'. Its the same as the super.fi 3 pro, except they include a bi flange and an airplane adapter So I head over to their site today, and notice that instead of the $120something they used to sell it for, it is down to 59.97. I meet my sister at a store (she works there part…

As your local ATOWF die-hard member, I guess I'll have to bring this up. Not that it's special or anything. Just something worth looking at. The pictures, that are. Worth buying if you have globs of money to play with. (Many people do tend to enjoy the ES7.) http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/products/hp/ath-esw9.html

So I sold some stuff and want to use the money to hardwire my K1000s. Should I go Equinox as tried and true, or explore other options. I've only heard a Mogami hardwire, which offered minimal improvements to my ears and made the highs a little too much for me (I'm overly sensitive in this area), and the Equinox, which I liked very much, but heard it on a system very different than my own, so can't really compare. What have you guys heard that you could recommend? I'm using an Exemplar modded Denon 2900 > Extreme Platinum > FirstWatt F1. If I can't decide soon, I know I'm going to blow my money on that dang TakeT group buy, so help me out here.
