Has anyone tried the Grado replacement pads from ebay? The ones that ship from China with the hole in the center.

First of all, sorry for my possible bad english! I am looking to buy a pair of headphones, and I'm surely not an expert, so I need your help! I have a budget of just €60, and I'd like a headphone both good for gaming and music. I want to use it both on my PC and MP3 player. Doing some researches and reading a lot of reviews, I've come across these 2 headphones: Sennheiser HD 429, and Razer Electra, both €59 here in Italy. Now I really can't decide...I'm not sure if the HD 429 will be good for gaming too (they say to have "powerful bass response without sounding bloated" and this is good for games, right?), and I'm not sure if the Electra will be very good for music…

I've bought a new SR-003 in eBay and when I connect them to the Pro bias connector of a modified SRD-7 can listen to a small noise in the right channel, it is a small "backfire", as if the earphones were throwing a long fart. It is difficult for my to explain this noise in your language In the first moment I believed that it was a problem of the SRD-7, but when I disconnected the earphones I continued listening to this noise, I suppose that for the capacitive load of the cables. If I connect the earphones to the connector of low bias I do not listen to this noise. With music I don't listen this noise and the sound is good. These are the first electrostatic earph…

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to headphones. I usually walk around with my apple ear buds, mainly because I don't care if they break. I'm ready to upgrade, but don't want to spend more than $100. I'm looking for either On-Ear, or Over-Ear headphones. I listen to a wide variety of music, from Acoustic Folk to Classical to Pop/Rock to EDM. Right now, I'm looking at either the Noontec Hammo which are on Amazon for $65, or the Sony MDR-ZX600 which are $70. Any thoughts on either of these 2 would be great, or if you can recommend some others that you think would be better. Mainly used with my iPhone or iMac. Thanks

The SR-80 was originally bundled with the SRD-4 (Electret Adaptor). Can the Electret phones only be connected to a SRD-4 or to any adaptor/amp? The reason I ask is because I have a SRD 6 / SR-5 combo and and would like to add a SR-80 to it.

Why not combine the two? Not particularly useful. sounds about the same as the silicone, but a whole lot more comfortable, and a bit less isolating. That is all.

Noticed that there hasn't been anything posted on the Audeze LCD-3 for some time now. The Fazor update was around 2014 or so, and there was a fair amount of press at the time that it improved the performance of the headphones. I picked up a set of LCD-3's last fall, and to me, they sounded pretty darn good overall. I found it a step up from a pair of Focal Elars that I was using. At this time, was using a Mjolnir Audio Dynalo amp to drive the Audeze LCD-3's. While I was happy with the sound overall, noticed that some recordings didn't have quite the clarity I was hoping for. So, when a deal to pick up a Mjolnir Audio Pure Bipolar for a really good pric…

I just got a pair of Yamaha YH-1000 given to me by my father. I understand they are special. I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 600s, FWIW. One channel is very week and distorted-but plays-and the foam needs replaced on both ear pads. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about fixing either problem? I can solder and am an adventurous DIYer. Thanks for your help.

Just came today, which is nice cause I just scraped like half my knee off. Anyway, my first impressions are, believe it or not, it sounds kind of like an uber KSC35, if you can imagine that. If you didn't know, this was made by AKG awhile ago (sometime in the 80s I think), and has two drivers in each cup for a total of 4 drivers.

Hello, I recently purchased a pair of Shure SE215 online and they came in this box: http://s90.photobucket.com/user/ofey_s/media/Shure/SE215-01.jpg.html From what I have read this version is the "international" version. If I am correct this is the U.S box: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/musical-instruments/detail-page/Amazon_SE215-CL_img10_lg.jpg Is this a problem for me as I am based in the United States? And is there a difference in the manufacturing?

Bose will be closing all of its retail stores in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia in a few months: https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/15/21067715/bose-shutting-down-retail-stores-layoffs-north-america-europe-japan-australia They were the closest thing to a mass-market high-end stereo manufacturer for most people. It's almost more interesting to see which regions were exempted from the shutdown – still some strength in those markets.

I was out horse trading some gear and came out of it with a set of JBL L100's and a set of these. Sound md-401b quad headphones. This is a stock photo, but my set looks almost new. I haven't had a chance to fire them up yet. It's going to take some thought as to best do it. I could try using two amps, and reverse the two rear channels, which is supposed to sound ok. I unfortunately no longer have the Marantz quad receiver or other gear around to do this right.

Hi all, I have a pair of Stax SR-007 e-stats - a 007 Mk 1 (s/n 71169) for which I made a new pair of diaphragms last year (long story, will make another post just about that here on HC soon) and a 007A (s/n SZ2-1636). In the last few days I've been noticing that the pair of metal arcs on the head assembly of my 007 Mk 1 makes a slight ringing sound transmitted to the drivers when I move my head, especially when these arcs are touching the headband. I don't recall them doing that before, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention. This ringing sound disappears if I either touch the arcs with my hand or reposition the unit so that the arcs no longer touch the headband. H…

I have a question about how to fit the headphones. The Lambda pros that I have are wired with the wide part of the cup facing the front, while the 500 MK 11 is wired with the wide section facing the rear. Is this correct? Did they change the way the phones fire toward the ear? Donald

I have a somewhat hard of hearing friend who is looking for a replacement headset for his iPhone. He's mostly looking to get better fidelity for speaking in the ear buds and microphone and will spend up to $100. He would like an ear bud solution and is not interested in IEMs. Any recommendations you can give will be greatly appreciated.

http://www.macatwork.net/luxurymac/prodotti.html These must be better than Bose. How ironic. Last night I was talking on IRC about how cables were like jewelry. Hehe, diamond iPod earbuds. "My iPod earbuds are more expensive than your IEMs!"

Hey everyone! I have a major question! First thing is that I can not go above $80 I have decided between the the Klipsch S4/S4i($3 more) or the JBuds J4. Amazon.com: Klipsch Image S4i Premium Noise-Isolating Headset with 3-Button Apple Control: Electronics Amazon.com: JBuds J4 Rugged Metal In-Ear Earbuds Style Headphones with Travel Case (Obsidian Black): Electronics The J4 looks good and has good reviews. But, it is pretty new and I do not know if that is good or bad. Good because it is more advance I guess, and bad because it is new and not much reviews and comparisons about it. The S4 is pretty old so there are a lot of reviews around the web and they a…

After picking up the superb thinksound On1 monitor on ear headphones recently, I emailed thinksound to mention my general appreciation of the sound quality of these mighty cans. Shortly after the CEO of thinksound Aaron Fournier, sent me a few emails, the latter of which detailed a design weakness in the headband of the On1 monitors. I reported back with no issue as yet to my set but would keep him informed nonetheless. The most recent email I received from thinksound appeared to be a blanket email, signed off by Aaron which is as below: "I just wanted to update you on the replacement part for your thinksound On1 headphone. The part has been tested and approved and i…

So, I hae a broken pair of DT990's. One of the channels is significantly lower than th'other. Like 18db lower. First of all, for my edification -- what would cause such a thing? I would have guessed a broken connection, but I can still hear the signal, albeit significantly weakened. A short? An almost broken connection? I rule out the latter, because it does not cut in and out. This is all just theory -- I'm not much of a solderer. Secondly, who would be a good person to send to fix it, and perhaps to upgrade it at the same time (new cables)?

So I've always understood the term PRaT to somehow be associated with punchiness and speed; I've always thought "fast" when somebody says PRaT. But when I'm listening to the HP2, it almost feels like it is one small step slower rhythm wise then its younger wooden cousin the RS-1, and this slight step back in pace results in perfect timing with the music. Its an uncanny and strangely exhilarating effect. Its like I'm watching a tightrope walker who I am sure is just about to fall off, but they never do. My heart is in my chest as I'm listening to the drums just move along with a crazy sense of purpose, and I always feel like the beat is about to miss itself, but it never d…

Anyone heard these? Are they worth a shit? I may order some just because they look intriguing. I would be using a beefed up Raptor with Tung Sol and Telefunken tubes and an EAR HP4 to drive them with an Esoteric DV-60 as a transport and Reimyo DAP 999. Any opinions would be great before ordering more stuff I won't keep and lose money on. Looks like I need to update my signature, all the heavy duty Esoterics are in my home system now.
