Over the past two years or so I've received a number offers from the members here wanting to help out with any associated costs of this site and I've always turned them down as they haven't been needed. I think the site has hit a point where it's growing at a fairly steady rate and I'm starting to plan ahead for future growth and additional features. Sorry about the downtime today, according to the data center they were having some power problems with the rack where my server is located. Everything appears to be running fine at the moment. Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary going on.

You have likely noticed that the email notifications have been broken for quite some time, they are now fixed and working again.

Sorry folks - it appears the email notifications on threads, etc stopped working back in December. After an upgrade to the site tonight they are all processing now - so apologies for the spam of notifications.

So for those of you addicted to twitter you can now follow Head Case (headcasedotorg) on Twitter I currently have things set so that all new threads created are automatically tweeted to the above account.

Seeing some problems with the forum since yesterday. The Condensed view doesn't seem to be working. Everytime I jump into a thread, I start at the beginning. Not a huge deal, but it changed all of a sudden.

Due some recent issues with the vBulletin software (the double post problem for example) and the general direction I see the software headed in (off a cliff). I've made the decision to switch to IPB Community & Forum Software - Invision Power Services, Inc.. Now for the good news, just about every feature currently available will be available with the new software. Existing links will continue to work, the links will change but old links will get re-directed to the new link. I updated the forum software today from 1.1 RC2 to 1.1 RC3 you will notice that you have been switched back to the default theme. I will re-add the old themes once they are updated for the latest version.

I upgraded the forum software tonight from version 3.3.4 to version 3.4.0. It's a pretty major upgrade with a lot of behind the scenes changes so please let me know if you see any issues. EDIT: Also I've seen some reports of users not being able to post and getting a "post empty" message. Please try clearing your browser cache or doing a hard refresh (Control + F5 on Windows).

Hey guys, I installed a mod today that changes the forum urls to a more user (and hopefully google friendly) readable format. If you notice any problems please let me know.

The infinite dark theme will be going away shortly, the dev has already announced it won't be updated to support the upcoming major new version of the forum software. It won't be removed until I find a suitable replacement that will be updated to support the next forum software version.

Starting the process for upgrading the IPB forum software to version 3.2. You'll see some features disappear during the transition. Not sure how long the upgrade will take - will update this post/thread as things move along.

I upgraded the forum software today from 3.2.3 to 3.3.1 it's a pretty substantial upgrade so you might notice some of the extra features are currently disabled. I'll be turning things back on one at time and upgrading them when necessary. I also need to upgrade the dark theme so that likely doesn't work right now.

Head-case will be undergoing maintenance starting at ~8PM eastern on Saturday September 23, 2023. This work is expected to take a couple of hours and the site will be in maintenance mode or offline during various parts of the maintenance.

Tomorrow starting at approximately 9PM EST I will be performing a major upgrade of the forum software. The new version is a complete rewrite of the forum software from the ground up, so there are many, many changes to it. Due to this the upgrade itself will possibly take several hours during which time the forums will be inaccessible. Once the upgrade is done there are several background tasks that must finish to restore fully functionality of the site. These tasks could take anywhere from 24-48 hours to complete.
