I'm not a big fan of streaming TV, and this article will probably date badly in a year, but we appear to be at a crossroads: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/10/magazine/streaming-race-netflix-hbo-hulu-amazon.html

Okay, the same weekend GoT finishes, the second and last season of Fleabag hits Amazon Prime (it’s already aired in Britain). Can we now call it the best thing on TV? Know there are other fans here, including Stretch, and suspect there would be many more given the chance.

The black and white seasons are now in the public domain: It was cancelled in the Rural Purge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rural_purge But I think the success of the Dukes of Hazzard changed their minds... The early 60s had a strange idea of family entertainment. Here's Dennis Hopper as a beatnik:

Watched the 2 hr. premier. Not sure where this might go, but hoping for a non Dynasty type of path. Good cast.

Cobra Kai, series 1st season just released on YouTube. First 2 episodes free, 8 remains episodes available on YouTube Red for a monthly fee. First month free, cancel anytime. The story is a continuation of the original Karate Kid movie, now 34 years later. Picks up where Daniel and Johnny (same actors) are in their respective lives, and where they and their families get tangled up again. Less emphasis on Japanese mysticism, more on kicking ass. Extremely well written, acting and production. Awesome plot and character twists, parallels and echos of the original. Best part is it’s non-PC humor and look at today’s culture with a 1980s perspective. Lots of music fro…

I finally got the Blu-ray set for this show (just watched the first 4 episodes). The sound design is by David Lynch... I'm not sure if people with TV speakers are getting everything out of the show. Has anyone else watched it yet? I'm surprised by how many actors Lynch was able to get back. There are some big-name stars, too, but I don't want to put too many spoilers in here.

I happened upon Letterkenny about a year ago and it's been great. Anyone have any recommendations for other good sitcoms? Not necessarily in the same vein. Other stuff I have seen and like: Seinfeld, first few seasons of That '70s show, The Office (US) before Michael Scott left, Parks and Rec, Arrested Development (not including the Netflix season). Sitcoms I hate: Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock, Two and a Half Men, anything with a horrendously fake laugh track

I'm obviously late to the show, but the first episodes have been fantastic so far. I'm disappointed that they only released the first season in Blu-ray... if I like it enough, I'll have to settle for DVDs of seasons two to five. The retro '80s soundtrack is great and they've done a good job with historical detail so far. The plot has some gigantic plausibility holes, but it holds together from a dramatic standpoint (i.e., a "realistic" espionage show would be incredibly slow, boring, and basically unwatchable).

Just finished watching the women's finals with the Italian fencers Arianna Errigo, Valentina De Costanzo and the Russian Inna Deriglazova. I can't wait for the numerous responses from my fellow HCers. Waiting for Race Imboden to fence tomorrow. Lance has met with Race at both the Anaheim Grand Prix and the US Nationals. A really nice and personable guy. We wish him well.

This is a series I had not heard of at all. Ran across it on Netflix and it really spoke to me. While it's primarily about a man who did 19 years on death row and was then released due to DNA testing, it's also a family drama and much more. I can easily recommend this to anyone wanting to see some topnotch TV.

Ken Burns' 10-part, 18-hour The Vietnam War begins to air this Sunday, so don't forget to set your DVRs! http://www.pbs.org/kenburns/the-vietnam-war/home/ The early buzz is that it is outstanding. I'm more excited for it than I have been for anything on television this year. Soundtrack by Reznor and Atticus Ross should be interesting as well. - The New Yorker did a nice profile on Ken Burns ahead of the series premier that is also worth reading. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/09/04/ken-burns-american-canon

Don't know too much about it, except some of the same people that brought us Peaky Blinders. Looking forward to watching the premier.

Greetings my good sirs, I just wanted to share a series: Vinyl The story shapes itself in 70s' New York, around a music executive: Richie Finestra. Music industry, sex, drugs and alcohol... Pretty likeable things. I really like the story and cast. Bobby Cannavale (Main Actor), Pretty talented actor, I've known him from another HBO production: Boardwalk Empire. And the cast includes: Ray Romano, Olivia Wilde, James Jagger. Creators are really impressive: Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese!!1!!1! and Rich Cohen. First Season has been aired in early 2016. Anyway, Just check it. In worst scenario you'll lose 10-40 minutes.

The hype on this is that it is the best "30 for 30" ESPN has ever done. The first episode was sensational. I can't wait to see more.

It's been so long since I've watched the original mini series that it's hard for me to compare the two, but I'm enjoying it thus far.

IMHO this show has just gotten better and better. It started out as above average and as the fan base grew, so did the maturity of the writing. The season 6 Premier was amazing and put the show right up there with some of the best of the new gen tv.
