Actually quite the opposite. I find the PM3 very close to neutral and relatively flawless (bearing in mind that headphones are rarely anything close to flawless). So, my problem as a reviewer is to identify where they fall short. The problem with the PM3 for me is they don't obviously fall short, and I had to work hard to identify any flaws. That digging for error skews my perception of them as I do it and I have to rebound a bit afterward. Review out later today.4 points

BB helped a lot of artist get their own start. You will be missed Mr. King! I first saw BB in Anchorage. Couldn't get a ticket, but was told what club he liked to play afterwards. Saw him do a full set at about 6' from the stage of a very small club, for the price of a few sodas. Favorite BB concert was in Portland, OR. He played with Koko Taylor. Man did they tear it up!3 points

What treatment do you recommend for well-post-mid-life malaise?3 points

RIP BB. I saw BB King at Seattle's Paramount Theater about 10 years ago. At the time, he was already at the point where he sat on a stool for most of the show. And I wondered, geez: how long can this guy go on? Here is is near 80 years old, touring and playing most every night. Amazing. He played all the favorites, told lots of stories about other blues legends who were already gone, and made jokes about the number of children he may or may not have had. And probably the coolest part: here was one of the last major bluesmen in the same room as the rest of us mortals, yet he was as warm and friendly as your favorite uncle. I'm glad I was lucky enough to be at that show. See you on the other side, BB.2 points

Yes -- I am on the disk plan with Netflix -- because choices -- and I usually delay watch (rip, watch from computer later, delete). Every once in a while, the disk won't rip because scratches/peanut butter/whatever/don'twanttothinkaboutittoohard, so after a thorough wet cleaning, I'll watch it live -- fuck it! I'll watch it live. (Meaning straight from the disk.) Also, I own a few movies (World's End/Cornetto Trilogy, Gravity, etc. -- probably getting Under the Skin because I've watched it enough times to make it worth my while, and will probably watch again...also Bolt).2 points

Completely understand. I'm in the same boat but it makes sense for me b/c I'm short changing my SACD collection by not able to play it on my NAD M51. Plus my M51 isn't any better than my old Modwright Denon 3910 and his new mods should sound significantly better. I plan to sell my M51 afterward however to recover the cost of the upgrade.1 point

God dammit, fine, I'll get it. 30 day return policy, yeah? You think 30 days is long enough for my crisis?1 point

bluray really does look and sound noticeably better on my TV than anything streaming, but to answer your question, no. We netflix/hulu/amazon/yahoo tv/hbo go everything we watch.1 point

Do you guys actually watch stuff from a disk? I don't think I've watched anything that wasn't streamed in over a year.1 point

RIP Ms. McLuggage. This is way more information than any of you need about someone you didn't know and have never heard of, but the obit my brother wrote for Marie follows. Marie and John were part of my life since I was 14 years old, and way more a part of my family than any other sibling's in-laws. This really got me at scourges. Read on if interested. Marie Cogan. Aug. 29, 1922 – May 4, 2015 New Jersey native and Contra Costa resident since 1991, Marie Cogan passed away May 4 in her Clayton apartment. The 92-year-old was born in Elizabeth, NJ to Irish American parents, August Mueller and Madeline Smith. She married her high school sweetheart, John Cogan, on Jan. 6, 1945 while he was serving in the US Navy. Marie wrote him letters and sent boxes of goodies with peanuts and crossword puzzles while he spent three years in Brazil during World War II. They had son John Joseph (Jack) Cogan on Feb. 4, 1946 and daughter Jill Ann Cogan on Feb. 24, 1950 and then settled on Monica Court in Avenel, NJ for over 30 years. After John retired from a near 40-year career with Exxon the couple moved to California in 1991 to be close to their four grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and loved to jog. She loved to host dinners and parties at her home, none more so than on St. Patrick’s Day, her favorite holiday. The couple enjoyed traveling to Ireland, England and Alaska. They also made several cross country drives to visit their daughter’s growing family. Marie made friends wherever she went. Son-in-law Jay Bedecarre says she knew more of his neighbors in Clayton than he did. At Diamond Terrace her friends said she was an unbelievably funny woman who, when asked what she wanted people to know about her responded, “That I’m a beautiful, skinny blond with a great sense of humor.” She lost her immediate family to three medical scourges of the past four decades: son Jack succumbed to AIDS in 1989, husband John to Alzheimer’s in 2005 and daughter Jill to breast cancer in 2007. John and Marie were married 60 years and he died three days after their 60th anniversary. She is survived by son-in-law John Jay Bedecarre, granddaughter Juliene Marie Bedecarre and grandson Jared William Bedecarre of Clayton; grandson John Jason (Emily) Bedecarre and great grandson Ted William Bedecarre of Corte Madera and grandson Justin Thomas Bedecarre of San Francisco. She is also survived by six nephews and three nieces, all on the East Coast, and sister-in-law Alyce Miller of New Jersey. She spoke almost daily with niece Jean Shipley, who was her Aunt Marie’s “second daughter.” The family thanks her caregivers Jennifer, Flora, Leah and Amy and Jill’s dear friend Ellen Herdegen for their love and kindness. The family said that anyone wishing to make a remembrance in her name can do so to the Cancer Support Community of Walnut Creek, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or a charity of your choice.1 point
