  1. Lauren had a shoot today, and one of the kids of the planned babysitter came down with hand, foot and mouth disease, so I got an unplanned day with Penelope. I can think if far worse ways to spend the day.

  3. ... 'has its down side'. 'It's' is a contraction of 'it is', and therefore would be 'has it is downside', which would of course be rather coarse, as well. Sorry, couldn't resist. [emoji14]

  4. Yes we did, and yes I did. I still want to be corrected, otherwise I will repeat the mistake without realizing it. I am in no way offended about being corrected. It really did take me until my mid twenties to get tomorrow right. I kept using two m's and one r. Being pulled out of school at 9 to work the fields has it's downside.

  5. No, that's not a contraction it's a portmanteau.

  6. Fucktard! Was that correct spelling and usage?

  7. We have discussed the course/coarse thing before, and you suggested that I should keep hassling you about it. Others probably thought I was being a total asshole, not that there's anything new about that.

  8. I want to eat most everything Dan makes despite his presentation and photography. I made some salsa with criolla sella peppers and tomatoes from my little garden

  10. For the Gilmore dynamic V2 I built (on Justin's PCB), I did some adapter boards and used 31DQ10 Shottky diodes in place of the monolithic bridges (which I think are the same bridges used here). These use a Mill-Max 90 degree pin and plug right into the monolithic bridge footprint. I would think these could be adapted to most any discrete rectifier diode assuming the room was there to accommodate them.

  11. Drove 4 hours each way from Tampa to Miami and back to see a baseball game. Might just be a bit of a zealot, especially when it comes to watching J.A. Happ pitch. He's from my home town and went to the same high school I did, and is now on the Pittsburgh Pirates who are in contention for the playoffs. 6 innings pitched, 4 hits, 0 runs, which was good for a win!

  12. Amen, and RIP to Justin and Bobby. Both followed their passion, and the world is better for it.

  13. While we're on a roll here, are you sure you didn't mean lack of "conscience" or "empathy", since the guy had to be awake to say no?

  14. We have two Honeywell HEPA filters, and Eleanor (who has allergies and asthma) claims they work well. I notice they're good at removing odours. Like John said, they're a bit loud when operating at full bore, which is good when my kids are trying to sleep but not so good in the daytime when I want to listen to music.

  15. I have a big, round Honeywell from 6-7 years ago. It looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-Long-Life-QuietCare-Purifier-17000/dp/B000050AQ5/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1440516311&sr=8-7&keywords=honeywell+hepa+filter It's cheap, it works well, and I definitely noticed an improvement in my allergies. But it's a little loud, and would like something quieter since I sleep with it on. I'm not sure if it's possible to be quieter, since you have to move air somehow. If there's someone that measured decibel levels for good HEPA filter machines, that might be worth looking at. I'm pretty sure carbon filters are to remove odors, and nothing else. I don't think it'll help the mold in any way.

  16. Nice, Jacob, good to have the connections. My wife just had a run-in with her old 3rd party VW service folks. Old owner sold it to lead mechanic, who has just run the place into the ground. Some questionable things, work done without authorization (though it would have been approved anyway, that's not the point). When my wife told me he kept on saying no (blankly) to her questions, I went in with her to pick it up. Damned if the guy didn't sit there and blankly say no some more, including the question "Don't you care about a 15-year customer who has questions or concerns?" So new repair service to be found, and this guy will likely be OUT of business very soon.

  17. Perfect use! In fact, great use of a contraction! I looked it up in the urban dictionary and confirmed this to be so: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fucktard fucktard A contraction of "fucking retard". fucking + retard = fucktard

  18. Real estate has fucked me way more than the stock market... I don't believe that stocks are perfect, just that you shouldn't pull out when things are bad, that if you keep investing, it will get better. I also seriously recommend whole market funds, unless you're a professional. I used to try and pick stocks, and they kicked my ass every time.

  20. So it's all your fault! I planned to put some more money in the market on Friday but never got around to it. I might wait a few days... when are you planning to have biscuits again?

  21. The good news for Gene is that it's not exactly like there isn't a good beer or 3 to drink at my house. As for me I'm making enchiladas again tonight. I always prep and grill twice as much chicken on the first night so the second night is super easy.
