  1. Took Simone out driving in my manual beetle today. Spent about 30 minutes. She's starting to get the hang of it...
  2. Lunch at Fatty Lumpkins. Very tasty little lunch spot. I had the How Now Brown Cow with plenty of horseradish sauce.
  3. Brent's vision of heaven found in a Muskegon hotel breakfast bar
  4. Long time since I posted around here but I thought I'd come by and show my latest DIY projects: First Watt F4 running on +- 32V At the moment I'm using a Millett Hibrid as preamp until I finish th BA3FE for preamp duties. Salas Folded Phono Stage, waiting for the front and back panels to arive from milling for final assembly. PSU for preamp
  5. Yesterday I played with Greg's favorite cornhole. Wait...that came out wrong. Funny that the last time I played cornhole was just a couple dozen miles away at The Livery on the Michigan Brew Tour.
  6. Tiptree Strawberries, ice cream and a "99" Chocolate Flake
  7. Finally caught the Anolis that was living in our house since we moved in. He/She seemed happy to be outside at a more reptile friendly temperature.
  8. Fired up my Carbon last night. Adjusted the current to 20mA but back down to 16mA at the moment as I'm afraid that my transformer can't stand it. Being lazy, I utilize the power supply and chassis from my KGSSHV. So I should consider it as an upgrade. I'll buy a new transformer and adjust the current to 20mA later. The amp is running at 450V. Even at 16mA I can feel that it's running a lot hotter than my previous KGSSHV. The amp sounds wonderful. Thanks Kevin for sharing this wonderful amp design.
  9. Proper Indian sampler alfresco in Southend
  10. That's a SE-amp (very fun build by the way, I've built two of them) so I guess it has a twin somewhere waiting to be completed?
  11. I've finished this fantastic design of Mr. Per-Anders.
  12. Just post the pics somewhere and link to them, imgur for example. I have three different SR-1's and I like them all but Stax has certainly made better. It's remarkable how long they do last and two of mine fire up instantly. The third one needs some work but it shows how electrostatics do last. I spent a few hours yesterday listening to my Quad ESL57's which were made in 1968 and are 100% original except the PSU and crossover parts were refreshed a couple of years ago. Keep them out of the sun and they will outlast any cone speaker...
  13. Test Tone @ Home live right now: http://mixlr.com/illuminator/chat
  14. First 4 relays are opposite polarity from the second 4 on the max4820 boards. Yes all 4 of them in series, so 32 bits to write all relays.
  15. I put DIP switches on the jumpers. Try one at a time to see what works best. I used 'switch 2' now. Pretty stable offset and balance voltages.
  16. only one jumper... both op-amp and opto installed
  17. 3200 people in Hull. Hull - how on earth that number of people in *Hull* were persuaded to strip, then be spray painted shades of the sea from head to feet is a matter of astonishment. All shapes, sizes and ages. It was the news coverage, where this mass of people walked through the city centre. Absolutely no passers by took the blindest interest - almost "Well - this is Hull on a Saturday morning - what can you expect?" In this world of woe, this all leaves me refreshed and makes me smile.
