I had biscuits and gravy for breakfast yesterday, but don't think the jinx timeline holds up. Maybe it was the Double-Double, Animal Style the day before? It was my first ever -- which has to count for something ...3 points

ss dynahi and its easy to modify the gain. what's not easy for most people is all the chassis work. The same people sell the boards and all the parts for a price that I cannot even come close to in the usa.2 points

Manzoni putting shit in cans has nothing to do with Cage's piece? If you're saying Cage's 4'33" is shit, that's one thing, but they're totally different in conception (and implementation). This is the inspiration for 4'33", quote taken from wiki: " In 1951, Cage visited the anechoic chamber at Harvard University. An anechoic chamber is a room designed in such a way that the walls, ceiling and floor absorb all sounds made in the room, rather than reflecting them as echoes. Such a chamber is also externally sound-proofed. Cage entered the chamber expecting to hear silence, but he wrote later, "I heard two sounds, one high and one low. When I described them to the engineer in charge, he informed me that the high one was my nervous system in operation, the low one my blood in circulation."[14] Cage had gone to a place where he expected total silence, and yet heard sound. "Until I die there will be sounds. And they will continue following my death. One need not fear about the future of music."[15] The realization as he saw it of the impossibility of silence led to the composition of 4′33″. " The above performance reduces the piece to some sort of odd slapstick comedy2 points

I bought kd lang - Angel With a Lariat, back in '85. I have been a huge fan since then. No one should feel bad about being upstaged by Miss Lang IMO. Pipes like that just don't come along that often. I also dig her chutzpah...Nashville gives her shit about her sexuality. Does she pout and whine? No, she puts out Ingenue, a jazz album that eclipses even her Owen Bradley produced Shadowland (still a favorite of mine).2 points

Server volume test is up and running for the i2c boards, here is screenshot of test volume and balance control Web page and i believe it should work for almost all browsers and devices. I will try to get modernizr working just in case. Also will finally start troubleshooting spi boards now and add some other cool features...2 points

Do what you usually do: buy them all, open 2/3rds, say cameras are dumb, then use your iPhone 7 (it'll be out by then.) **BRENT**1 point

I think you're falling for the foible that a lot of people fall for when first introduced to the concept of the piece -- that it's a dadaist statement. It isn't. It's about the space between the notes taken to its logical extreme. It's about ambient sounds that exist anywhere. Not necessarily the audience, but if it were performed, for example, in a theater -- like one of those Fathom Events things -- the sound of the projector running, the air-conditioning, the occasional sneeze, cough, and throat-straightening, the sound of the movie next door, water running through adjacent pipes, alarms, horns and baby screams from outside -- all become a part of that particular performance. It would still be in the spirit of Cage's intention. The metal band actually held up to it pretty good -- they even left in an accidental guitar pluck (yes, I watched the whole thing -- I wanted to know if they'd stay in character -- they did!).1 point

Do any of you guys have any digital video experience? I need to shoot some footage, and I am trying to decide between using the D750 and figuring that out or buying a fancy video camera, Blackmagic 4K, Sony, Canon Pro kind of thing. Anyone have any experience with the video side of the camera world?1 point

bought a pioneer bdp80fd brand new for $300 from b&h people should buy them now before they are all gone. SO MUCH EASIER than Piece of Shit overheating version 3 garbage and if you have a modified PS3, time to dump it before its worth absolutely nothing. also have tested 103,103d,105,105d in case you have one of these. even with the multiregion hack, still works1 point

It's actually a conspiracy controlled by HC, but MENSA man hasn't figured that out yet.1 point

This guy completely doesn't understand the point of 4'33" whatsoever and is making the piece all about him and his stupid antics. The performer should not get in the way of the sound of the audience, which in fact then becomes the "performer" and audience simultaneously. This is the score (one version): @Craig Sawyers try Stimmung or Kontrapunkte!1 point

Seemed very balanced in tone. Feel was great. Believe it or not, I think it may have been set up better than the James Tyler. I can strum harder without buzzing on the Gibson, which means the action is higher. A lot of people hate high action, but I thought this wasn't so high to be harder to play. It's very easy for me to play too hard with my thumb on the James Tyler, it is clearly set up for fast playing. So I kind of appreciate the slightly higher action on the Gibson. The G string is the only one I could really get to buzz, but only when playing unrealistically hard. This is a Gibson custom standard historic 58, so it's probably set up better than whatever Gibson USA would make. In general I think the thicker the neck the better the tone, but perhaps a better way to put it is it is easier to coax better tone out of a thick neck, and getting a thin neck to sound good takes greater skill in assembly. Tuning stability is usually better on thicker necks. The James Tyler has outstanding stability, but I don't find it to be thick or thin, more like right down the middle. I went for the 58 over the more popular 59 because in general the 59 should have a slightly slimmer neck. The 59 is costlier because of the higher amount of wood figuring. I don't really associate high figure with gibson, I only really ever noticed high figuring when PRS came along. About the only thing I noticed is that the volume and tone knobs seemed to turn a bit before I noticed a change in tone or volume. I only played it clean, but the pickups are outstanding. The custom bucker is the best pickup they offer for PAF tone. I think I'm going to gravitate towards the PRS hollowbody over the Custom 24 since I love the elevated bridge so much. Whenever I finally grab one.1 point

We were walking precisely along that path last September, when we stayed in Selva in val Gardena. It was just as awesome as it looks. The path does not go up those crags though - it drops down to a slightly lower path that hugs the bottom of the crags. The pink appearance to the rocks is of ancient corals when all this region was under the sea. If you get the chance to visit this area - do so!1 point

Yeah, it was pretty fucking amazing. I like all 3, but kd lang stole the biggest highlights with Helpless and Constant Craving. Different show, but very similar performances: The musicians were great, the banter between the self-proclaimed "Sister Wives" was lots of fun, and each performer got to show off a lot, with some great harmonies by 2 or all 3 at a time on many songs. Two encores, with the second starting off with Patti Smith's People Have The Power. A great great show, threatened early on by rain, but it cleared before they came on, and even had a nice rainbow as a prelude to their show. Great entertainment, well worth the see!1 point
