The other hidden benefit of the UK Royal Family is the number of good works they do. The charity my wife runs has a Patron. That used to be the Queen Mother, but is now Countess Wessex (wife of the Queen's youngest son). She is not just a title - she is massively engaged with the charity, most recently hosting a fund raising dinner at her house (Bagshot Park). But - that is only one of 70 charities she is patron of. That is absolutely gratis, and multiplying the effort for my wife's charity by 70 and you get pretty much a full-time job. And she is not unique - everyone in the Royal Family does this sort of thing, and is absolutely priceless to the good causes they support.

Getting most of our snow late in the year again. Over 12" last night; I guess construction on our new back yard will be delayed. Got to love the randomness of the Sierras. The Donner party would be proud, maybe..

Speaking of reliability, I was at CanJam NYC this year, they had a HiFiMan table and the Shangri-La Sr. amp was on display - but it wasn't working. Quoth the HFM rep, "Well, it's been shipped around a lot." Uh-huh.

Put the finishing touches on our advertisement for a summer pre-nationals championship fencing camp. This camp which I have organized with some help will be a very high level elite fencing camp. We will have the gold medal olympic fencing coaches from the London, Beijing, and Rio olympics attending. Olympic fencers, one of which Daniel, is a two time olympic foilist who trains with Lance and a Italian olympian will attend with a few more possibilities in the works. We will be using a 24,000 square foot state of the art training faclity with all the bells and whistles included. Currently pushing to see how many foreign national team members we can attract, right now we have a couple of Russian team members and maybe a few Italians. This has all the potential to be one of the best pre national championship training camps in the country but either way it will be a great experience for the fencers who attend. A big plus is that the olympic coaches love California wines so we have a win win right there. Fingers crossed that I don't mess anything up.

We ended up with somewhere around 24". Thankfully it let up overnight and was manageable the next morning. Here's a picture of the partially shoveled deck. I had cleaned it off after the last storm so this is entirely the doing of 24hrs of snowfall.
