  1. What $24,000 will buy you these days. PS: it’s parent company is Sonoma Acoustics. https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/audio-shows/exclusive-warwick-acoustics-aperio-electrostatic-headphone-system-r792/ https://cdn.computeraudiophile.com/article-images/2019/0416/The-APERIO-from-Warwick-Acoustics.pdf Must not sound too good, as the video is silent.

  3. My cats are indoor only, too. I laughed because my Bobby did a very similar thing.

  4. Not sure which version of board do you have. I have a set of un-used, un-populated, on-board heat sinks rev. 0.61 amp boards (two) and rev. 0.9 power board. Bought as a spare set for your type of case (so sorry to hear), but the first set worked out fine for me. I have no plan to use this set at all. PM me if you want to rebuild and we can arrange something out (minimal to your favor). (Seeing that you're in Norway ad I'm in the U.S., not sure the shipping cost will kill the whole purpose)

  5. My cats are indoor only (urban area), so that isn't an option. It wouldn't matter anyway: Silver, my more adventurous cat, once snuck behind me out the front door, and immediately turned around to go back into the apartment with a terrified look on her face.

  8. history lesson (unless birgir says otherwise) As far as I can tell the first stax amplifier to use differential cascode circuit is the srm-1 first introduced in 1979 long before hifiman was even a company

  9. The srm-001 is an opamp driving a fet that drives a transistor (cascode) into a load resistor and is cap coupled to the output. (cascode differential) The jade2 is an opamp driving a transistor that drives a mosfet (cascode) into a load resistor and is cap coupled to the output. The calculation of output capacitance is flat out wrong as the middle of the cascode is AC ground. (cascode differential) Just about identical. Obviously the jade2 consumes a bunch more power and puts out a bunch more power. I own 2 hifiman products. Both are built like shit. I'm unlikely to buy hifiman products ever again.

  11. The circuit is more like the srm-001 blown up by a bunch. So opamps input, solid state version of grounded grid output stage, resistor loaded, and capacitor coupled output. Positively ancient design by any standard. Did not even replace the power resistors with current sources. Saying that the output capacitance is that low because the two devices are in series clearly shows no understanding on how that design works. And the series output inductors are not a great idea either. The headphones may be decent, I don't know because I have not heard them, but there are so many decent headphone amps out there that buying the hifiman version seems like a waste of money.

  12. I also don't think Fang really understands what is going to happen now. I'm going to track down a Shangri-la jr. amp no matter the cost just to rip it apart.

  13. For me there is no comparison between Stax and Hifiman, I have my issues with the Stax amps as they desperately need to modernize them and for me, some of the headphones just sound "off" but there no denying the quality. Now the new Stax amps from China, D10 and D50, don't really fall under this as they are experiencing major issues.

  14. They remind me of some fake boobies with pasties I saw once. So...not the pork floss with faces? Are they supposed to look like faces? Because they look like faces to me.
