For your viewing pleasure. Elear Clear Utopia Sennheiser HD650 All measurements were performed by Sonarworks. They do DSP-based headphone and speaker calibration. During the 5 years I was with the company I can say that even now they're hard to beat in terms of headphone measurements. Mostly due to the fact that all measurement curves are checked by audio engineer ears so that they make the headphones sound as close as possible to a known tonal reference. All of these curves are averaged from at least three different samples from the headphone in question. I can't tell much more about the actual method. Just make sure you only compare them to other Sonarworks curves.4 points

I never really venture into these threads, but I had to come in here to see what the fuck Al was talking about.3 points

Here's Elear (which is similar to Clear in many ways): Here's Utopia: The LF roll-off on the Utopia makes it sound leaner even if objectively it extends lower. It's like comparing sealed and ported box speakers.2 points

Yes, but it is not a RAAT endpoint like the Mytek. I want to try using one but I got rid of all mine. May have something in the works. Here are The Roon Endpoint Types Not me. Seems more expensive than using my Mac mini. I have no problem using a dedicated mini to run just the Roon Server.2 points

I have both the Clear and Elear. Going by memory, I bought the Elear two years or so before I bought the Clear. They are more similar than different but I like the Clear much better. I feel the Clear has better resolution and top end and, again, better tonal balance compared with the Elear. Even though the differences are relatively small, all thing combined, I consider the Clear a better headphone all around. YMMV!1 point

My partner is going to be here this weekend (very soon, in fact!) . I haven't seen her since February. She begged me to not wear an Apple watch while she was here, as I've been obsessed with my step count (I average about 30k daily). I was planning on wearing a Speedy, as I put one of mine on a NATO for summer. but for some reason this felt right (goes great with my Ren and Stimpy socks and Birkies).1 point

The Roon Nucleus is not worth the $. You can spend 1/2 to 1/3 of that, get more power, and load Roon Rock OS for free. I did that with a NUC (two NUC's actually, one at home and one on a Windows NUC in Maine condo). At home I installed a 2TB SSD for my music, and in Maine I use an external USB drive with a 500GB SSD. Both still cheaper than either Roon Nucleus pre-made box.1 point

My mistake. It's a very Happy Birthday to HiWire, not highlife (Dom). Happy Birthday HiWire!1 point

Cream's first gig in 1966. In some poky club in Manchester. Bruce on left, Baker of course on drums, and an impossibly young looking Clapton on right. And in 2011, Baker in full flight in Toad1 point

You had very little elevation so I am wondering if you hit 33 and 34 mph on the flats? That is some impressive hammering!1 point

Ha. Thanks all for your help. In the end I went with a Magrette Regattare Tiki for a decent price in comparison to the other final choices. New Zealand Post, US Customs, and the local Post Office did everything they could to get it to me by 2024, but it arrived a couple days ago. A little too big, a little too heavy, but uncomplicated.1 point

Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto dies at 76 Unapologetically flamboyant, he shaped the look of David Bowie’s alter ego and also worked with Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga. https://www.dezeen.com/2020/07/29/japanese-fashion-designer-kansai-yamamoto-dies-at-76/ https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/27/fashion/kansai-yamamoto-david-bowie-japanese-fashion-designer-dies.html?referringSource=articleShare0 points
