  3. So, I was watching an Ed Sheeran cover by Scary Pockets, and I thought to myself, what am I missing with Ed? I just don't get it for some reason. I have heard his music all around and many covers. So, I sat down and listened to and hour plus of his songs. They were recorded well, the melodies were nice, the lyrics were mostly sentimental but well crafted. But still nothing caught me, nothing to say, 'Ah, now I get it'. And in the end maybe that is it, it is nice, but not for me. 🤷‍♂️ etc...

  4. Good example: Take an Ed song and turn it over to Pomplamoose, and they make an incredible musical number out of it. Anyway moving on: Blues-ette (Japanese Release) Curtis Fuller Quintet 1959 https://album.link/us/i/1433694962 Example:

  5. We’re you using one of those newfangled planes with the electric cord attached?

  6. ^ maybe it's just that he's a Ginger? "‘People never knew what a ginger was in America,’ singer said" "Ed Sheeran says South Park joke about ginger hair ‘f***ing ruined’ his life" https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/ed-sheeran-south-park-b1985485.html

  7. Maybe a spoiler , or NSFL tag is warranted @swt61. That's the kind of thing that could almost put a boy off his crumpets ( or cheese scone in this case) Heal well. Time for an extra stiff Earl Beige?

  8. No. It was my new cordless plane. Not new fangled, but new mangled.

  9. I use a Bourns PDB181-E420K-103B - a bog standard, dirt cheap, linear taper 10K. Completely power off, no standby involved. You can use an audio taper pot easily, you would just have to be more creative with the volume/pos mapping. Can't help you out with the latest version, I'm just a trained monkey building boards that Kerry organised! Just don't get the different versions mixed up. I built and tweaked code for the original v1 with the PCF8574A/ULN2803A combo. The v2 is a completely different chip (MAX4820) and software approach.

  10. Well I'm using a pot for control, and it reads the pot value on startup. Wherever the pot is, it jumps to that volume pretty much immediately, which is the expected behavior. Most implementations with an encoder do save and restore the volume. But I've really gone off encoders for this sort of application; don't like the physical feel, don't like not knowing the volume at a glance.

  20. Blast from the past! After 10 years, I finally managed to build two v1.0 of these boards. A couple of questions, if anybody is still familiar with the project.... I have used the original code from @Kerry the get the relays clacking away with an encoder and Arduino Uno, I just needed to replace the deprecated wire.send with wire.write. But I really want to use a potentiometer. The code from @stv1756 won't build (incompatible types in assignment of 'int' to 'int [12]'), and it seems like Kerry's 'all in one' code is more advanced - but I'm not nearly clever enough to work out how to configure it for the v1.0 boards. I can work out how to disable the OLED (comment out "active OLED = .... lines), but I'm still throwing compile errors (flexible array member 'Font::_data' not at end of 'class Font') which suggests it is still trying to include a display, and I'm obviously missing several configuration options. Anybody got any hints, or known-good code that works with v1.0 and a potentiometer?

  21. Some similar experiences here, but microchip MSC750SMA170B instead. Was using it on my GRHVs, same issue when PSU was measuring normal under no load (both rail measured around 401V),but dropping to about -180V on B- and B+ also seems a bit off (about 391V) as powering carbon amp which is using now precious C2M100070D. Everything back to normal as I swapped microchip SiCs back to C2Ms... but I would continue trying any alternative option on GRHV.

  23. Man, RIP Scott Hall AKA Razor Ramon. As someone who watched far more wrestling than I should have in the 80s and 90s (you know, when it was good) I watched him bash his skull against other comically oversized men in spandex briefs in the cartoonish WWF and more "serious" WCW. The sad thing isn 63 is quite a long lifespan for someone in his line of work.

  24. This time it was a Porta plane that jumped, but the same damned finger! Not bad enough to go to the Dr. I just cleaned and wrapped it. I know very well how to treat it myself now.

  25. Oh boy 45 minutes on old with Sweetwater. Their hold music BLARINGLY, DEAFENINGLY LOUD. Also terribad and interrutped by unnaturally perky sounding people telling me shit IDGAF about in any lifetime. Finally got a tech, which lead to another 45 minutes of back and forth, installing a creepy-ass TeamViewer app, much fuckery with Traktor, system configs etc ...all of which lead to confirmation that yes, Julia, channels 1 & 2 on the MOTU are in fact dead. New unit being shipped for Friday. I hafta get the old one in the mail within <mumble> days. Probably no show this Friday, either.

  26. Looks like the two month old Dust Right is already developing a leak along a bad seam. So I guess I have to uninstall the whole fucking thing and take it in for a replacement. If I have to go to that much trouble I might just get the money back and get a real unit for the wall.

  27. The other major thing that happened to me today (and honestly at the time I figured was the only major thing) is that I have sort of “officially” transitioned from being my mother’s son to being her care taker. There is overlap. I think this is a lot better for both of us. It’s… at least honest. Her hip replacement is semi-firmly set for April 12th. I’m hoping improved mobility will help her. Surely it can’t hurt.
