  1. Thankyou all. Had a wonderful day celebrating my 70th b/d. Hope to be able to see a few more 😇
  2. I just bought the fellow opus to compare to the niche zero. Hopefully the niche will be for sale soon.
  3. Crush Floating Points 2019 I started this album by Floating Points (aka Sam Sheperd), I found it a fascinating combination of orchestral and electronic/mixing. Which got me sidetracked into: Promises Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders, London Symphony Orchestra 2021 https://album.link/i/1550697816 Example: A nine movement piece all around a simple pulse theme. I found it a fascinating exploration and journey. With Pharoah Sanders putting in some great work. I have not gotten into his Dance music work, but I like his modern compositions.
  4. What the hell. I'll try one! https://www.wsj.com/articles/starbucks-bets-coffee-infused-with-olive-oil-could-be-the-next-frappuccino-7a079d50?st=j2rvqpxxnl65trz&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
  5. ^^ Liked them a fair bit, along with some the Damon & Naomi "solo" work.....haven't heard all the latter, though
  6. On Fire Galaxie 500 1989 https://album.link/i/310810412 Example: I liked this album for just what it is. A late 80's indie-rock showing all the influences that you could want, and imparting some of their own.
  7. They are odd, I'll give them that. I'm going acquire a few more (as they are all so different) and then do a review on them.
  8. Awesome. I might do that. Thanks Mikey!
  9. FYI - there are pumps available for the BES810 and BES810BSS out there, but only if you want to take it on as a project. ~$45-$161.
  10. What wineries did Suzy prefer?
  11. Took Suzy for a nice drive through Napa.
  12. 2009 was one of the craziest years of my life, paralleling 1996. I should do a photo essay on it. That'd take more time than I have, so here's a Cliff's Notes version. The year started fairly inertly, with snow and ice: I took a photo of my room that was utterly unrepresentational of its cleanliness: That's my then-new late 2008 Macbook. Then I had some vintage Mac gear restored: I pestered a sleepy cat with a Canon 85mm F/1.8: I let my friend use my 17-40L with his 5D Mk II: I experimented with sun stars: I got my first (of 3) IR-modified digital cameras: I experimented with zoom bursts: ...with mixed success. I mucked about with HDR, as I had done for years: I met a pretty German woman who worked as a waitress in the local diner I haunted throughout the 00s: Then things got interesting, but that tale is going to have to wait for a later post.
  13. It's more power than BHSE, but not by much. There isn't really much point. There are already several competing tube amps that put out less voltage swing than STAX's entry level amps. Pushing the envelope on component specs to achieve another fraction of a dB more output wasn't the goal. as for the price, well over 10k. there is absolutely no way this amp wouldn't be. I could exceed that in bill of materials easily. How much is the MSB, 40k? The Sennheiser HE1 w/ headphone is $59k. The Shangri-la Sr w/ amp is $50k. This will be much, much less than either of those and sound better with SR-X9000 or CRBN.
