  4. Many people knew him as a country singer. Some knew that for a short time he was a Beach Boy. Not many know that before his singing career took off, he was a member of The Wrecking Crew, and an extremely well respected studio guitar player. In fact, one day when The Wrecking Crew showed up for a scheduled recording session, Glen happened to be standing in front of a microphone. As members of the crew teased him for his humor, they were quite surprised to find out that they were actually there to lay down music for Glen Campbell's first album. Anyway, here's Glen picking the William Tell Overture.

  5. Used the laser and started no forest fires. The fume extraction system I ordered comes from Canadia for some reason, so the dog sleds should have it here in 8 weeks. c28c7dcecc0243b89db8031ea145f13a.mp4

  9. I would guess that those are for turning on the opto coupler ( CPC1117NTR), same as the normal GRHV's have, for delay purposes. Haven't looked at the schematic for the 100, but for the normal GRHV, you have to apply a voltage to turn it on. You can leave the CPC1117 out if you don't need this feature. I probably wouldn't use mica insulators for something like this (aluminum oxide instead), but I know mica has been used throughout the years for HV applications.

  12. There is a backyard battle at the wife's hummingbird feeder. A pair of hummingbirds have been hanging around on a nearby branch and drive off other (larger) hummingbirds. Last year It was a all out war for the birdseed by cardinals.

  14. Jerome Isma-ae - Mellow Yellow Tracks (1998), vinyl. I haven't heard this release in probably 20 years. The DHP Mix of Flu Bassoon is on a bunch of CD compilations from the early 00s. It's often listed with no remix title. I know, because my obsessive ass has tracked down most of them. The DHP Mix is very up energy as far as deep house goes. It's more than a bit of an earworm. In my estimation, it pales compared to the original. The original mix is much more subdued and less obvious than the original. It's also only on this damn piece of vinyl. I picked up my copy around the turn of the millennium. While it never precisely went missing, I didn't have immediate access to it for a very long time. I carefully stored it along with a number of irreplaceable bits of vinyl in a secondary record bag I got ages ago. I just discovered it today while looking for ...something else entirely. I dropped it on the platter of the mini setup I assembled in my bedroom. I really need to get around to digitizing this record. It straight up does not exist in the information age. EDIT: Apparently it DOES exist now. Silly record label finally got their act together.

  16. The Dreamer - Joseph, Pt. 1 Neal Morse 2023 https://album.link/i/1687520898 Example: New Prog album released yesterday from Neal (formerly of Spocks Beard fame). I have not given it a deep listen though. And from the onset I am a little mixed. There is some grand music going on here. He has gone back to religious themes. This one, as you might tell is of the technicolor dreamcoat style. The music is good enough that I want to dig a little deeper. It could raise itself to the levels of jesus crist superstar, which I like, or it could end up with gebnbneric songs of praise, that seem to land flat for me. Neal had some other albums like that that I didn't connect with. We shall see, but I do really like the music, had me in a heavy groove several times.

  17. I so regret forgetting to put the Black Cat into my shopping cart. I purchased espresso beans from a roaster out of Dallas that a local, independent shop carries and they are an absolute mess to dial in. Tastes delicious but they make an absolute mess...LOL. HS

  18. Breville came in. I was unhappy to find that it had taken some cosmetic damage. The seller wanted me to send it back so that he could get a claim from UPS (he had them pack it: the first of a couple bad decisions that ended in feedback that was not “good”), but I figured “open box” really meant “lightly used,” and that’s just too much of a pain to deal with when it works and is brand new on the inside (OPV now changed to 6 bars and I checked for leaks) and I got it for pretty cheap. Looking forward to using it tomorrow morning. Hopefully I remember how to steam milk. Black cat is the only coffee I have at the moment, so that’s what I’ll be running. It’s certainly not a coffee that makes a mess!
