Beth and I went to see the Chicago Symphony last night conducted by Neeme Järvi, doing the Mahler 2nd. Excellent performance, much better than when we saw this with MTT conducting back in the mid 2000's, although the mezzo-soprano back then (Lorraine Hunt Lieberman) was stunning doing the 4th movement ("Urlicht").
One of the longest standing ovations I've witnessed (> 5 mins). 90 minutes is a long time to sit (1st world problems).
Ha - I do follow BlackTail and Foureyes for big wood entertainment, but I am open to others.
Most of my recommendations look like this for some reason.
I am one of those 40,000 patrons, I absolutely love Jenny's content. She is remarkably incisive and always brings receipts.
She is currently the #2 video creator on Patreon, right behind someone who mods Assetto Corsa. Pretty impressive for someone who puts out 1-2 videos a year and narrates them sitting on a bedspread surrounded by stuffed animals.
Of course, if you're a member of her Patreon, you get a video every month...
Thank you, Sir! We were targeting a slightly lower price point. The major chunk of the cost came from machining the 316L Stainless housings, even more so than the Rhodium Stators. We have special 1.5mm cutters made just for a few operations, 1.5mm on Stainless is a recipe for disaster. Luckily the end result is gorgeous. The Stainless housings are just pure beauty and frankly, no other material comes close.
Thank you for your support throughout the years, Todd.
Finally finished some sheet rock patches at Al's house in the city. Had to remove some drywall sections to get at a broken cast iron drain, maybe over a year ago now?
They're not absolutely perfect, but pretty good.
Maki helped keep the dust down by keeping the garage floor wet.
😳
Interesting, do you prefer the Mahler / Vienna orchestra layout with the split violins or the one here? (Do you remember which layout was used back in the day when you heard it)?
