Hide glue is reversible. Wood glue isn't. That's useful if it's historic or collectable and might see later restoration work.

Neither is the correct answer. A Hammer A3 (or similar) is the right answer - it is physically smaller than the Powermatic jointer, yet still will give you a wider jointer, and will allow you to get rid of the planer which will free up space for a bigger CNC.

So long as I use 3 in 1 oil, I've never broken a tap in an aluminum heatsink. And I've done it hundreds of times. Just use the correct sized drill bit, and preferably a drill press for the initial hole.
