I'll have to settle for having a woody when I'm listening to them. I am building a new wall rack to hold them and two circumaural headphones though. And I have plans to build a really cool looking custom box for them, utilizing the stock foam. I'll be receiving one of Duggeh's masterful Orthodomes that will be woodied, and I have a pair of T50RPs that will get the woody treatment ala Smeggy design. Then I still have my modded HD580. So I'm already building back up, and I imagine I'll have some HD800s sometime this year. Nugget Audio just built me a gorgeous one, along with several other K1000 adaptors to take care of any situation I may encounter. Talk to Nate and see what his schedual is.

Nobody can make the decision for you, but I will say that I'm very, very happy with my K1000. It has impressed me beyond my expectations. It has become and will remain my main heaphone. Unlike some I also find it quite comfortable. I prefer it to the better stats I've heard (007 Mk1, Lambda, Lambda Pro, Sigma Pro, HE60 & ESP950), but that's just me. I've never been as fully impressed with stats as others have.

It will also be one of the easiest swap outs, should it ever need to be replaced. Very nice rig you have there now Blackmore! Enjoy it!

You do know that your first obligation is to try out internet porn on that monster, and let us know the results forthwith?

Keep in mind that your incoming β22 amp is a very high end headphone amp, and try to match it with a DAC of the same level. It will be grossly undersourced as it stands. There are more and more high end DACs popping up with USB. I agree that if your CPU is going to be your main transport a USB DAC is the way to go.

Sounds interesting.

If memory serves I think he asked about Cocobolo. I used to have a habit of making stands and just sending them out unannounced. Kind of a thank you for some, and just a here ya go, usually for students or someone who I thought made good contributions to the forum. They were almost always made from extra materials I had in the shop. In his case he PMed me asking about a stand, but complaining he didn't have much money. I didn't know him at all at the time, and usually if someone asks or hints around for a freebie they'll never see one. But I saw he was a kid, and I guess I assumed he had no money. So I had some Cherry laying around and made a stand and even payed the shipping. You can guess how I felt about him after his PM. Never once did he say thanks for the stand either. I thought about asking him to ship it back on the pretense of making him a new one, and then just letting him hang. He just wasn't worth the effort though.

I do have pics of every stand I've made, including that one. They are on my crashed desktop that I need to have repaired. Maybe I can dig one up on HF though. Nope, none to be found. It wasn't anything super extravagant, but it was nice, and did I mention free?

Fingers crossed for her return.

Did the liquor come with the cabinet?

Do you know that I made that little shit a free headphone stand out of some nice Cherry wood I had in the shop? The little bitch complained about the wood, and asked if I had something else I could make one out of. Needless to say I did not respond to that PM.

Sasha & Shawna Siren. This is about as far away from my normal listening as it gets. But I traded Steve (zippy2001) a wooden iPod dock for some CDs quite a while back. Well Steve sent everything I asked for and a lot more. This is one of those extras. I'm thoroughly enjoying the album, and it's fantastic on the K1000. Thanks again Steve!

No, but I was 20 floors up, and there was bound to be some off target precipitation due to wind.

Cool, thanks.

I peed off the top of a really tall roof. Yep, still a little boy at heart.

DigiPete I'd love to see your Pearl build, as well as the rest of your vinyl setup. Congrats on the new cartridge!

OK old friends are poppin' up everywhere now. Welcome Dash!

Hmmm, well if you're going that route I have long list of things I'd like from there...let's talk. However I'd just walk out with them...have you seen how fat he's gotten? He'd never catch you.

Ah, thanks Duggeh.

I was saving this one for edwood's birthday, but I couldn't wait.

OK I know I'm going to incur the wrath of the SciFi sect, but what the hell is a Dalek anyway? Is it from a movie?

Another way to go that I've also wanted to build is a direct drive turntable. A custom plinth could be built for a Technics SP10, SP15, SP25, or one of the Denon drop ins. That would just require a tonearm/cartridge and you're in business. Don't forget that a build like mine also requires a motor/housing & speed controller. All told with phono stage and cartridge included, I've got about $2000.00 invested in parts and materials. I think a good direct drive table as mentioned above can be built for about $900.00 in parts and materials, depending on the table chosen. I'd also be very happy to help you along the way with any information or ideas I can give you.

The felt (and other backwave absorption materials) thread

I've been curious about the ShamWow, or any man made shammy material. I found that thick, dense felt worked quite well for the YH-100, but not sure yet what will work well on the T50RP driver. -
If memory serves I paid $200.00 new. It could have been $150.00 though. I would think half of that would be a pretty good deal. I remember hearing the 500s at CompUSA somewhere around 2000-2001, and they weren't anywhere near as nice. I'd hold out for the 702.

I weave the underarm hair of polynesian fisherman. They must be between 24 and 37 years of age for the best effect. And I find that if they've used roll on deoderant as opposed to gel the highs are better.
