  1. Just want to say that even with the bad rap on the parts in some of the VD cables, the VD Power Three that they gave away on a limited run is not a bad cable at all. I don't really care if it is stuffed with peanut M&Ms, as long as it sounds good. Would I pay $300.00 for it...no! But it's on par with some of my other decent aftermarket power cables. My favorite is a Grand Enigma cable that I bought from a HFer at a reasonable price. I don't like to pay more than $50.00 for a power cable, and I don't think it's necessary either. Warrior05 built me several of them at less than $40.00 ea. (almost entirely parts cost), and they sound every bit as good as the VD. That being said the VD and all of my other power cables do sound noticeably better than your average stock cable.
  2. Ah sweet Jack, it fits inside the dust cover just as we hoped it would. On this one I decided to mortise the pillar into the base. The mortise is slightly smaller than the pillar, and the pillar was slightly eased to a tenon just to the exact hight of the base. The base also carries over that same counter arch from the top. It's hard to see in these pics, but it runs the width of the base just to add a little more interest. I also decided to use stainless steel Torx head screws on the back to hold the pillar to the base mortise, and to hold the hanger at the top of the pillar. My thought was that this would make it easy for Jack to take it apart and wrap each piece individually for easier packing, should he want to pack it for meets or future moves. Of coarse the screws are countersunk and actually add a bit of flair IMO. The Omegas really are worthy of an important stand, and they look great on there Jack!
  3. That may prove tough, as I'm usually the first to draw attention to my freaky sexual practices and immoral behavior.
  4. OK I'm now feeding the phono stage into my Consonance integrated, and on to my Omega Grande Six/UFW10 subs combo. This TT officially kicks ass! Man it's been quite some time since I've spun vinyl, and I'm definitely hooked again. Also I had been using the TEC TC760LC, but I just switched to the Hagerman Bugle. The TEC is a nice unit, especially considering he price, but the Bugle rips it to shreds. Thanks Nate!
  5. From what I've read Jim, the IVY is a pretty nice solution.
  6. Hey sweet! Thanks again! I had entered G2 instead of G-2.
  7. Bummer, that would've been sweet.
  8. Thanks 909. The data base doesn't find anything for the G2, but I did confirm 1.5 grams from a good friend. I've gone through the manual and tweaked everything...balance, tracking force, anti skate, speed and even adjusted the three spring loaded legs as described in the manual. I'm playing an NOS pressing of The Honey Drippers, featuring Robert Plant, and it sounds fantastic! The adjustments made all the difference in the world. This is actually a pretty decent cartridge. The table is quite nice indeed. I have plans on building my dream table, but this table and the Mitsubishi will suffice quite nicely until that project takes shape.
  9. So what little info I can find suggests starting at 1.5 grams. That's where the table was set, and I see that it doesn't easily slip from that adjustment, so that's where I'm going to start. I'm getting music, but it's a bit sibilant, and too hot on the top end. I'll refer to the manual and tweak from here.
  10. Yes it's identical to that one. I did just find out it is indeed called the G2, but I can't find any specs for it. I'd like to set the weight for the cartridge, and check tracking force etc... I sent an email to Grado Labs, maybe they'll get back to me before too long.
  11. Will do. Right now I'm trying to determine what cartridge it came with, so I can set the tracking force and so on. It's a Brown colored plastic cased Grado cartridge, and it has "G2" and "Grado" in raised gold letters on the front. Anyone know what cartridge this is?
  12. So my Yamaha PF-800 turntable showed up today. It is indeed in near mint condition. The best example I've yet seen. I've only just unpacked it and put it together, so no sonic impressions yet. I do think I'll leave this one stock, as I rather like the Black "Lord Vader" look. More to follow on this TT.
  13. I see no sign of it there now, but I also saw it on HF this morning.
  14. Hu-Dat restaurant. It's fantastic Vietnamese and Chinese food. My favorite dish is the Bun Chi Gio. It's owned by Dat Nugen's (Dallas Cowboys) parents.
  15. Congratulations to you both, and many happy years to follow!
  16. Yes you're right. I've taken a few of the males in for neutering, but it's about $100.00 per female cat where I live to have them spayed. There are some areas that perform this service for strays at a much discounted price, but none in my area. I've talked to the local vet, but she won't budge. For some reason this little island has a huge population of feral cats. Most businesses put out food for them, and they're kind of adopted by the residents. I've been pretty successful at finding homes for the kittens so far, but I'm going to have to start getting the females spayed.
  17. So being an old softy, I've been feeding strays for several years now. They all (about 10) take up residence inside my fence, and sleep in various places. Well last night we had a bad storm coming and I worried they'd get drenched, so I opened my garage door about 10", so they could wander in and stay dry. This morning I peeked in and got a bit of a surprise. I new that the Momma (Black cat) had a litter, but I hadn't seen them and certainly didn't expect her to move them in. The gorgeous Siamese (Fluffy) is from a previous litter by the Black cats Mother. She's got this fantastic coat of very soft fur, a tail like a squirrel and she's just a sweetheart. I'd love to find her a permanent home. There are four kittens, two dark Grey and two Black. Oddly they're not the least bit shy or afraid of me. I've carried and cuddled them all morning, and they just eat it up. I don't think Momma cat (Fanny) has any intentions of moving them back outside, so I'll park in the driveway for a while.
  18. We're all for sale, it's only a matter of agreeing upon the right price. Me, I'm a cheap whore, I can be had for what's in your couch cushions. As for the VTI racks, I've seen them, and they seem nice and stable. I'd like to see thicker shelves, but for the price they're a pretty good bargain IMO. My dream racks are Steve Blinn designs, but I need to knock over a bank first.
  19. Sure, me too. If you're buying Dusty I'll take two.

If it were a dwarf German Sheppard I'd suspect Duggeh, but he wasn't there.
  21. The spikes come with hard rubber floor protectors. And you'll have at least an inch of adjustment with these spikes. I seriously doubt you'll find any floor that out of level in less than four sq. ft.
  22. I just bought and put together two of the exact same racks yesterday. Mine are quite solid feeling. And I have some tips as to easy leveling. First I'd suggest ordering from Amazon.com, I got the racks for $185.00 ea. and free shipping. And the shipping was as quick as regular UPS ground. With the money you save there I'd buy the Mega Spike accessory spikes... http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SMSPIKE You'll want the 5/8" spikes for the Archetype. Then when the rack arrives decide how tall you want each shelf. Install the mega spikes all the way onto each rod, then I'd screw the nuts and washers right on top of the spikes, and set your first shelf there. That will automatically make your first shelf level. I cut a block to the same distance I wanted between each shelf (for me that was three blocks at various heights), and used the block as a gauge between each shelf. You could cut 4 blocks for each shelf, and set the shelf on the blocks until you tighten up the bolts. This worked very well for me. Once I had all the shelves attached I simply turned the Mega Spikes at the bottom to level the rack. I have a giant Maple slab on top of my racks which adds to the sturdiness, but they felt quite sturdy once the nuts were tightened good.
  23. Voltron I've always been curious how the closed Stax sound compared to the open models. Can you shed any light there?
