  1. I will watch the opener of V tonight. I finished The Wire yesterday.
  2. Where is the SR-Omega
  3. Any of the vinyl junkies picking up the four album Neil Young box set? I think I will be preordering it.
  4. I agree with you 100%, though my 2900 is stock. SACD has never sounded "right" to me on any of the high resolution players I have tried. I also prefer DVD-A and I have compared SACDs and DVD-As with identical mastering. edit: I should also add, that another sign of the further demise of SACD, is there is currently only one SACD pressing plant in the USA.
  5. I think I will ask Dinny instead
  6. Digital does funny things to people.
  7. Who was making the original assumption? Me, Jacob, Regal? My post really wasn't meant to be taken seriously, as your X, Y, Z statement obviously wasn't a null hypothesis, and I don't think anyone could have construed one from the gibberish I posted
  8. I guess the rebutal would more properly be: Back in da day manufacturerrs be rolling 40 deep OG style, none of this spinnerz on tricyclez or baseball cardz in da spokes, delta-sigma? shiiiiiiiiiiiite, seventeeen ohhh fours and PM Deeez nutz 100 or broke That's a much better null hypothesis
  9. Hard to argue since you haven't named any specific DAC. I have heard crappy, good and very good vintage DACs. Also I can imagine it's hard to make solid impressions about sources at meets since the entire chain being unfamiliar...
  10. I think most collectors or fanatics would consider the first pressing UK tube cut vinyl to be the best. They go for silly money though, so I'm sure the German vinyl is a fine cheaper substitute. I only have problems with the Abbey Road stereo. The mono box sounds fine.
  11. This thread has run its course. :dancinglock:

    Baby O

At least the earpads are far cheaper than SR-007A pads :'(
  13. Why are you assuming it's in a thread? Everything doesn't have to be on the internet. I don't think they're worth $1000. Just my opinion and I'm not saying any more.
  14. You aren't alone. The ugly splatter paint?
  15. The Music Matters ones will be mastered by Alan Yoshida. The discs I have mastered by him are very good, though ever so slightly on the dry side.
  16. If we're talking video card nerdiness I still have my Voodoo5 5500 sealed in box that I got with Best Buy employee discount. Not more than $20 I believe If only it was a 6000...
  17. So when are you making the pilgrimage
  18. I don't have as much experience as others in this thread, but cartridge rolling has made really big differences in sound. Bigger (different) between brands, but I've heard pretty big jumps moving up in the same line. Koetsu Black to Onyx comes to mind as one of them; both carts broken in.
  19. And yet he still can't afford a set of his own speakers, clever marketing
  20. It still probably sounds hella good since they are class A to something like 60 watts? Give me that over a tube amp. Oh and Pacific Microsonics digital in that picture... ftw
  21. If you're willing to boot into Windows, The Witcher is one of the best PC RPGs in recent times. I liked it more than Fallout 3, and it smoked the stock version of Oblivion.
  22. I've heard from a pretty reliable source that these SACDs haven't been selling that well. My guess is because they're readily available in many cheaper versions on CD. AcousticSounds has even distributed the SACDs that are out to resellers like amazon. The main selling point for the 45s was that original Blue Note LPs are now very expensive.
  23. It's absurd how much cheap classical I can get that is in really great shape. It is much harder with jazz and rock (especially obscure psychedelic and krautrock). But still not entirely unreasonable if you know where to look online.
