The speakers are perpendicular to the TV viewing area because that way they are firing down the room longways. I have a totally separate and very cheap 5.1 setup for the TV. Yeah, the windows are tough, but I'll experiment some more and see what I can do. For the fireplace I was thinking maybe one of the Double Busters (absorption and diffusion). Also maybe some Corner Busters for the ceiling corners.

How does a beta22 compare to tubes?
postjack replied to veloaudio's topic in Headphone Amplification
oh sure man, its fun to ask these kinds of questions on forums, especially when you are already excited about an incoming product. I loved my beta but really it ended up being too much amp for me in my now humble headphone rig. -
So I started reading the Echo Busters site a little bit, and reading about other people's room treatment experiences. First, I moved my listening chair almost into the foyer, which is weird, but bass response improved. Second, I pulled down the huge mirror that is on the side wall in front of my left speaker. Low and behold, I never realized how excitable my room was before. Treble, particularly on electric guitar, smoothed out considerably. Since I've once again been shown how simple room adjustments can make dramatic differences, I'm shelving the new amp idea for the immediate future. I may invest in some Echo Busters or Bass Busters. My room is a hot mess though. Here is a sketch I just did in paint to show y'all what I'm workin' with: One thing though, the left wall is further in then I drew it, the couch is much closer to the left speaker. The red squares are windows, and you can see I have two large openings: one into the dining room on the right, and one into the foyer on the back wall. You can see I have my chair now backed up a little bit into the foyer. Previously it was maybe 3-4 feet forward.

How does a beta22 compare to tubes?
postjack replied to veloaudio's topic in Headphone Amplification
compared to most OTL type tube amps I owned, the beta22 was more open, fast, immediate, and intense. however, at no point have I heard a beta22 be bright. its just neutral, clear, and powerful. sorry for the audio magazine language. -

kelvinz, just because your source and another source share a common DAC chip doesn't mean they sound the same. terminology wise it can get confusing: usually when we say "DAC" we are talking about the whole shebang, like the entire unit, not just the chip. I suggest you start researching USB DACs in your pricerange.

nothing that I know of. Really I just looked up and saw the triangles were back, so I attempted posting again. voila.
 -
test. looks like we are back in business, I'm posting this from FF. My triangles are back as well.
 -
Here's another weird thing: on the User CP > Log Out bar, all my little down triangles are gone in firefox. For example, when I click on Chat Room, it just takes me straight into the Chat Room, I have no drop down menu giving me the option of opening the Chat Room in a separate window. The down triangles are present in IE but not FF.

Smeggy, I'm having the exact same problem in Firefox. I'm on IE now. edit: yup, getting the "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters." even though I have a message in there. IE is fine.

Yea, the HP1000 is a super awesome can, but seriously, have you heard about the HD800? Sounds like it will be the hot can. We all know money is tight, so you might have to sell a piece of gear to pick one up. Something that could maybe fetch ~$1400 on the market. -

no work today. so far i've spent a lot of time listening to music and metatagging the ungodly amount of untagged music I have. meanwhile I'm pretty darn close to finally burning and reripping the entire Neil Young "A Perfect Echo" unofficial 12 disc SBD compilation. good stuff.
