Tried out a supplier that I hadn't used in quite awhile for some GRLV parts: Arrow Their prices, at least on what I ordered, were better than Mouser (15%, maybe more). And free ground shipping. They seemed to have better qty price breaks as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Congrats on your son! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The ones I have are Fairchild... but it looks like they made both at one time, maybe still do.

Nice Marc, though 85C The ones I ordered should be here Tuesday.

Just checking, but the KSP42/92 used for this are the same thing as MPSA42/92? The datasheet parameters (those I checked) appeared to be the same. Since I have MPSAs, I'll go ahead and use them. Don't remember what I bought them for, but it was awhile ago... EDIT: typed MPSW instead of MPSA

Happy Birthday Chris! Hope you have a great one!

Yes, you went there, didn't you The Donald's fave debate tactic seemed to be to throw whatever he was accused of back at the accuser. He did start ranting about the election/system being rigged. Maybe he was referring to it being rigged... for him? EDIT: and sorry, I've been drinking....

AOIP (Audio over Ethernet) or is USB dead?
Pars replied to astrostar59's topic in Home Source Components
Fixed that for you. Just to interject, and I know most of you aren't jitter believers (beliebers? :)), but some theorize that clocking errors in the recording chain (i.e., pro audio) have ill-legitimized much (all?) of the digital recording legacy and library. Source of info is jockohomo, but I for one take note of what he might say on the subject, as obtuse and inferral as he may be. Scary thought, eh? My point relevant to this discussion being that any opinion on an interface should be taken from a grounded reference of a known entity performing in a known acoustic space. If it sounds like the real deal, then there might be some merit in the technology, but keep in mind that there might be problems in the recording chain as well (blasphemy, I know). SPDIF has a multitude of problems, whether coax or optical. USB had a shitload of problems prior to asynchronous or whatever they call it now (Wavelength Audio IIRC). All of this shit (the clocking, and the transmission) is in the RF analog domain, and the implementation matters. -
Yep, as long as you don't mind meeting their minimum. Thanks again for the heads up on the Pana TS series, always liked them. A shame Pana is getting out of anything bigger can/higher voltage like those. Great caps!

From looking at the spec sheet for the attenuator product, it is configured as a semi ladder, so would act more like a pot than a stepped attenuator, which matches my observations with a DMM on these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I don't recall the TKDs that I have used acting like stepped attenuators with discrete positions or attenuation levels. The ones that I have act like continuously variable pots, though they ohm out somewhat differently from a normal pot such as an Alps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Placed an order with online components today. Also noticed they have the MeanWell IRM-15-24 PSUs for the mini Dynalo2 for ~$8.50@, or $7.06@ in qty of 10-24. Considerably cheaper than Mouser, if someone wanted to do a group buy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Took another look at this and it is an IEP (IIRC), 160VA, single primary. Did the suicide cord thing on it and it was putting out ~27.4Vac on each secondary. I think this is a bit large for a Dynalo I think I will go with the Antek 520 or 522 (50VA, 2x 20 or 22 Vac). Any thoughts on which? The 2x20 is probably enough for a target 20V supply? The 20V would give ~26.9V raw to the supply after rectifiers, or more based on loading.

Addl fees paid. Thanks! -
Yes, those were my target cap for the GRLV... and they have some in either 50V or 63V that will be perfect. Thanks! EDIT: Noticed they have a $50 min order. I was only going order up to 6 caps, ~$22. Hopefully I can come up with enough that they stock to fill out the balance.

I wasn't real clear on what the difference was between a pot and an attenuator in TKD terms. Are the TKD CP-2500s that you would buy from say Percy Audio here in the states a pot or an attenuator? I am guessing attenuator judging by the way the couple that I have ohm out rotationally? I hadn't ever noticed that they offer both under the same part #/series before this was pointed out. What cases are those? Something like this?
-
Actually the input ground and output ground are the same (single ground plane). Same for the power ground.
-
Yes, board ground, should be the same anywhere on the board, probably the middle terminal on the 3-pin connectors.
-
This is a balanced Dynahi? That is one measurement (offset of O+ to O-). First, you should set DC offset for O+ to gnd and O- to gnd. Get these both as close as possible; should be able to get each to within 5mV without the servo. If you can't, get them as close as possible. Then check O+ to O-. Not sure what these boards have for pots on them. By going back and forth, you should be able to get them all pretty close. EDIT: and have the inputs either grounded or turn the volume pot all the way down.
-
I wouldn't solder it in, but I use good sockets. Your call however.
-
Yes, those look good. Are they 2-layer? You aren't home brewing more than that are you? (Don't even know if that is possible).
-
Yes, I obviously hadn't considered that aspect. My main use would be in front-end stages (Dynalo Mk2 mainly, maybe Dynahi as well). Those seem to have enough emitter/collector resistors / current sources that it shouldn't be a problem, particularly if the V devices were in the BL/V overlap range (high end of BL Idss). I'll look at things some more before I decide whether to get some or not.

TKD 4CP-601 & 4CP-2500 4-gang volume pot and PCB GB

Cool... Interested to see pics. Do you have a TKD CP2500 you can test fit, even a stereo pot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
