It just seems that for something like this which says they have FET input (I read somewhere) and presumably a whole lot of feedback in the circuit, that number is probably wrong (the balanced number particularly).

Why such a low input impedance? Seems odd. Any internal pictures?

Can anyone recommend a cheap ($40?) repair stand that I can use to tune-up my bike and the kids? Prime is a plus, but willing to order anywhere.

It is quite possible that the "feature" will be disabled with future firmware updates of either vendor. There is no way to know the answer to your question.

The only issue there is many board fans won't do plated slots. I would verify you have at least one reasonably priced fab that can, before moving forward.

You can remove the lugs and replace them with right angle pins.

I think if your bottom became a top, that might just work.

There are a few ways to do it. If you attach the heatsink to the transistor case, you pay a pretty large thermal penalty. I think the best way is a large land with an attached heatsink.
