  1. various artists, The Electro Swing Revolution Volume 2 -- gruckin' foovy
  2. I have to admit I liked this imagery. The fact that it makes sense just adds to the win. It's really not that different from what Ethan Winer will tell you to do. I may do the same thing, however putting some cat-scratch type carpeting over it for the cat. Everyone else is offering good advice, too.
  3. It's not a question -- rMBP -- screen resolution is better, pretty much everything else is even or on par or balance each other out -- what's the question?
  4. Parov Stelar -- this is stellar! Period-ish sample-based techno -- "electro swing" -- a la The Real Tuesday Weld, Caravan Palace, et al.
  5. Mystical Weapons was surprisingly good -- it's improvisational based, and stays on this side of the so-completely-experimental-as-to-be-WTF-inducing that I seem to find intolerable. I actually found myself knowing what was coming next several times across the album -- meaning that I find Lennon's music-writing subconsciously sympathetic, same as Pink Floyd. Now: Shugo Tokumaru, In Focus? -- this is just silly
  6. I used to install Windows 7 -- now admittedly, it was onto VM's, not on actual hardware, so I don't know if the OS installation is smart enough to know it's being installed on a VM and leave stuff out -- but it was less than 10G. So the mistake was installing a full-blown Windows 8 install instead of their tablet software, or making some sort of "pro" version of their tablet software, or not trimming out the fat -- I mean, I bet half of that is for fonts and foreign language versions of stuff. And how many drivers do you need if you control the hardware?
  7. No, that's not true. I mean, yes, it's true, but ( a ) that's not the point, it's not that we get annoyed that it's less, it's that we get annoyed that it's that much less -- I mean, 45 G out of 128 is a bit much, and I do complain that Windows (not just 7, but previous versions as well) is a resource hog every time I run into that issue on a Windows partition.
  8. Outstanding.
  9. Oh. I thought you were using the phrase "Dusty Approved" to refer to "that look" -- which it's not -- rather than my actual approval -- which, yes, it does garner.
  10. ...and this one:
  11. I am chatting with 'Sasi M' @ Dell -- that might be the greatest name I've ever chatted with, computer related or otherwise. I'm going to have to add that to my list of recommended stage names for female lead singers.
  12. Was: Ex Cops, True Hallucinations Now: Mystical Weapons
  13. Took apart my 15R (wanted to install 7200 hard drive and mSATA)...apparently the manual they directed me towards is for the 17R which has the mSATA in a different place (shocker)...so I'm beginning to think I won't be bringing a laptop with me. The VAIO just doesn't have the battery life, and I got an extra for the 15R. Maybe the tablet and phoneblet will be good enough.
  14. Noted. (Loved Luther and Sherlock.)
  15. Congrats, bigguy and mrs. bg.
  16. Five Guys is superior when In-N-Out is thousands of miles away.
  17. I thought the Oppo could function as a prepro. Or is that only the 105? And I have to admit, that was before they came out, I haven't been following real-world experiences using it as a prepro.
  18. Soundgarden, King Animal
  19. Oh well, maybe next time. mmm...venison...
  20. Those contractors have insurance, don't they? And you turned off those computers, right? Even the air flow will suck that dust into their systems.
  21. I had someone like that once -- actually, a local professional outfit. I didn't need an explanation as to why they didn't get anything done -- they didn't get anything done because I demanded it back before they started. What I really wanted an explanation for was why it was taking so long for them to get started, and I got nothing but a shrug over the telephone for my troubles. When I came in to pick it up, I was so rage-y, that I didn't even talk to them, just demanded it back. It is my understanding that they had previously gone out of business. Twice -- once priorly, once after my business with them. I have to keep an eye on them, because they've changed their names several times.
  22. Happy belated! (party favour noise)
  23. Al -- so many jokes, but I will refrain -- what Nate and Shelly said -- wishing you a minimum of discomfort and ultimate realization of your ...um...no, I said I'd refrain...sorry... Vicki -- you'll get over the self-recriminations -- much more rewarding to have a house paid off than forget to pay -- I've never had, but I've had a car paid off (in fact, I've always had my car paid off since the 80's), and even that is a pretty good feeling.
  24. Dude, it's not even February, nice. You're one of those people who have their christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving, and then is thankful for having it done at the table, aren't you?
  25. Lid, In the Mushroom
