Deadline (Mira Grant, Newsflesh Trilogy, Volume II) -- holy shit, she doesn't waste any time. I guess it makes sense -- in a post-zombie-apocalypse world, people die, but ...Jesus. I'm going to amend my earlier statement, although...not really. She does two things really well -- love, and grief. (Grief only works if you had love.) One of the things that she did really well in the first book -- and she appears to be keeping up the pace -- is that you felt every death. I mean, really felt it. You mourned characters you barely met...because you hadn't gotten the chance to get to know them, but you knew from what little you did get to know that you did. not. want. them. to die. Fuck. Also, she has an entirely tangential character named, "The Monkey". I shit you not.

Gemm -- being a bit of a flea-market -- is a mixed bag. Yes, there are some very good sellers there, but there are also some absolute criminals...well, alright, technically, they're not criminals, because they're not forcing you to buy their wares, but the prices strike me as...well, a bit much. My point: know what you're doing when you go in there. And yes: vinyl is a good alternative, if you don't have access to a time machine, or infinite resources.

Adryelle, Glass Box EP -- link -- a pixie Tori Amos with Animal on drums. I kept waiting to see if she would turn around, and he would shrink down and quiet down at the same time, and then she'd face forward again, and he'd open his mouth and get loud again. But alas, that never happened. Still was quite entertaining, I'm smitten.

Had ramen for breakfast -- was better than the other place (though my friend disagreed), but not as good as either of the two places I went in NYC. Saw Super 8. Saw Midnight in Paris. Had pizza for dinner. Didn't know what to do with myself at a bar. Saw Adryelle play. Saw Skydivers play. Came home. In other words, nothing new, but a particularly enjoyable (read: of the non-Floridian variety) conglomeration of events for me. How are they going to complain with no phone service?
