  1. The Fire Theft, "Carry You", paulstretched
  2. Also, perpetuation of backwards thinking leads to terrorists and Ray's shills.
  3. I get headaches from rolling my eyes so much.
  4. Me neither.
  5. Stuck on Oh Land. That sequence of Son of a Gun/Voodoo/Lean/Wolf & I/Human just fucking rocks me down to my socks. Oh, and hey, she's released some alternate versions of some of her songs on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/OhlandVEVO#p/u/2/V4wHMORwlHY http://www.youtube.com/user/OhlandVEVO#p/u/4/S-XSxhXghN4 http://www.youtube.com/user/OhlandVEVO#p/u/5/XY50--DkkE4 http://www.youtube.com/user/OhlandVEVO#p/u/3/1a8ckDTW4aU http://www.youtube.com/user/OhlandVEVO#p/u/1/kew62gpNTn0
  6. Finished the Gathering -- realized I was about 80% through the book when nothing major had happened yet -- she made up for it in the last 20%. Lots happened. I'm going to have to take this back -- even though she spends way too much time explaining things away that are only confusing because she introduced the idea, and there are characters that seem a little too deus ex machina for my tastes -- well, not so much deus ex machina, but ... they only seem to be there as a writing device -- I.E. Warren -- knows stuff when it needs confirming, but doesn't tell it until it's figured out by the protagonist, so it's not written from a omniscient point of view. That said -- strangely compelling. There's a lot to like about her. The whole second entry into Midheaven thing -- superb. Builds up this confidence going in, and ... doesn't spell out the deflation, but lets the actions speak for themselves. So yeah, I'll keep reading her.
  7. Dark Lord. Kidding! Malbecageddon -- finishing the bottles of Norton Reserva and Alamos Seleccion. Both were superb. Interchangeable first place, methinks.
  8. Invisibl happiness? I want to take that kitty and squeeze it until it purrs.
  9. Wow. Pre-college. High school. (tries to let that sink in) Wow. Smart kid.
  10. Yeah, I figured you were making an exception for the JH13's, but I didn't realize the HF2's were your last headphones when you got rid of them. So it's not like you said "I don't wear headphones anymore" that much anyway, you're not going to be missing a lot by not be able to say that. Smells like a double negative in there somewhere, but I think it's fine.
  11. Nothing, and everything just closed about 40 minutes ago. Better go hit Chipotle while they're still open (I hope).
  12. Wait, you don't own headphones? Since when? If you're only going to have one set, that'd be a good set to have. I could live with that. Spritzer, that's, what? Your umpteenth set?
  13. Imperial Scotch Ale sounds interesting -- how is it?
  14. Greatest opening to a concert I've been to in a while (the voice-over is not from the album, but from the point of "Stop it...stopic...stopit...", it was pure bliss, so the contrast was kind of amusing -- sort of the opposite of 'managing expectations'): Yes, that's my shaved-ish pate popping into and out of the lower right hand corner. And yes, there's a very cute girl in front of me and to my left -- she keeps showing up against Rebecca's skirt as red-haired.
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Plus: hawt.
  17. Pfff. I think I'll keep trying to come up with my own explanations (which is pretty much the story of my life). That also includes plagiary. "Heavenly"?
  18. Happy Birthday, Jin!
  19. Yeah, I stopped twice to call them and see if they still had any. They did "manage expectations", and told me honestly that they had very little left both times, so I kind of knew I was going to be too late, but I still had to try. Bunch of things I could have done differently -- got an earlier start, not stopped for breakfast (or got something I could have eaten while driving), not stopped at the Calvin Klein outlet to get a couple pairs of jeans, drove faster, stopped less, etc., so I can only blame myself. Basically, I shouldn't have gone. Also, since I was by the ocean, I wanted seafood, but the place I ate at accidentally served me a chicken sandwich instead, and my judgment was sufficiently impaired that I didn't even notice (other than the meat wasn't as tender as I thought fish should be). So yeah -- pretty much a wasted trip.
  20. Well, the darkness issue is a setup problem -- they're supposed to project it brighter to compensate for the glasses, which is why not all theaters can play 3D movies -- they need higher lumens bulbs or whatever...moar light. Anything else is just, "they're doing it wrong". Of course, that doesn't explain why the 2D version is dark, other than (a) it's a dark film, as you said (I can see from the trailers that quite a bit is set at night, or in the jungle in the shadows), and ( it wasn't rendered and/or transfered and/or "mastered" (or whatever the photography word is) well. So who knows, the 3D version might be slightly less dark, due to setup variations. Of course, if the movie is already dark, that's a different issue, but shouldn't really be associated with the 3D issue -- other than it makes the post-processing slightly harder on the eyes. I think (don't really have enough personal experience to know for sure -- I would actually intuit dark movies would be easier to render and see post-processed 3D, but all evidence so far points to the contrary). That said, I will stay away from post-processed 3D -- I don't see the point. So appreciate that little bit of info. (And no, not all live action 3D movies are post-process.)
  21. Out of this world good? I'm trying to figure out what differentiates a rapture recipe...
  22. Why not? You anti-3D person, you.
  23. Drove to Delaware. Drank. Ate. Drove back.
  24. Yeah, I can see you not liking it -- I think the lemon zest or whatever actually smooths out some of the hoppiness. Also: I'm glad you liked it. Wait, what? Then what's the point? I mean, first of all, I understand what you're saying, it'd be like trying to carbonate molasses or...well, syrup, but...isn't the point of sugars in your beer for the yeast to eat? Wouldn't that make it an entirely different beer? Ah, so you got some? So I can take it off my list?
