  1. Someone who blew their wad on the tubes?
  2. Some mix that my sister's roommate has that is awesome. I'm a gonna have to get a copy of that. Also yesterday/last night: Lamb, 5 -- superb. Perfectly made tea on a sunny afternoon good. Also, Live at Koko Pendragon, Passion -- not hearing the David Gilmour, but otherwise loving it.
  3. How did that turn out? I'm a recent convert to ceviche...let me phrase that, I only just discovered ceviche, and I love it. Eggs ceviche? Me: I just had the best corned beef hash I have ever had at Homemade Cafe (in Oakland). Technically, it's pastrami, but it works really well with the herbs they use.
  4. It depends on the product. Some of them you can still cancel if you act quickly enough.
  5. I actually don't know that we actually went into Canada -- they may have just been saying that. The air certainly didn't smell any different. No worries, I actually started laughing at all their complications and the resolutions to their complications -- and I thought of the flying faster thing, but not the travel back in time thing. (I mean, why didn't they just go to Denver and circle until they ran out the gas?) I suspect they did also fly faster as part of their "plan". It didn't suck for me as much as it did for other people. There was a whole group of people missing their connecting flights -- some to China, and there is no other flight to China today, so they're...well, a lot more fucked than I was. And at least I could afford a cab ride, there was another girl who just didn't have the $50+ for a cab ride. And it was her birthday. And they weren't comping cab rides. Like they said they would. Next time I'm going to ask for that in writing. Although hopefully there won't be a next time. 2nd worst flight of my life. (It was only a 4+ hour delay, my worst was 24 hours.) Today: freakin' relaxing! Vacation! First almost week-long vacation since before I was unemployed (I took time off before, but I always did because of something I had to do -- paperwork, cleaning, moving, etc.)! So hurray for that!
  6. Okay, now it's just getting silly -- we're taking off, but we're flying through canada to burn off the fuel rather than offload it. Sent from mah Droid
  7. It gets worse -- now we have to wait an hour (in dc) for qualified personnel to take fuel off the plane, so that we don't weigh too much when we stop in denver. Lamb is the only thing keeping my blood pressure down right now. I don't want booze right now. Sent from mah Droid
  8. Can't, I'm now stuck on the plane AND they're talking about where to stop my non-stop flight in Denver or Chicago. FUCK! Sent from mah Droid
  9. it was a Case Logic, but I don't know the model. Sent from mah Droid
  10. Waiting for delayed flights sucks Sent from mah Droid
  11. Happy Birthday, Justin! Sent from mah Droid from the airport
  12. I think the Sibs are defunct, so...eBay, etc. Google Shopping yields DigitalCraze.com, but...I presume that's what you meant by not a traditional vendor. Or you could wire up some car stereo speakers in a kickbox. There are some really good car stereo speakers out there.
  13. Focal Sib (passive version of the thing I recommended Marc) is 142mm, which is just over your limit. :\ I'd go with the Gallo Micros. Or perhaps build something from the smallest enclosures here? Is 135mm too large?
  14. Raace wiith Deeviil oon Spaaniish Hiighwaay EDIT: Lies! I already finished listening to that, and am now listening to "Ronald McDonald Insanity", paulstretched.
  15. NP: Anthony Rother, The Machine Room, non-paulstretched Elixir of Life is still my favorite of his Fax... releases, but there's something special that I can't quite put my finger on about all Rother releases (only the Fax... of which would be considered ambient). EDIT: That portion between 12:00 and 20:22 has some exquisite bass -- headphones are a must, unless you have a decent subwoofer (or decent extension on your speakers) and a well-tuned room.
  16. Actually, more like: WYWH, etc. ...but it's kind of hard to download marbles.
  17. Rebranded. Seemed obvious to me at the time. Okay, now you're beginning to sound like (a sparse) Dr. Seuss.
  18. ...mmm...Alan Parsons quad mix... (faps) And coasters!
  19. Yeah, even though it's an alps, I'm curious how they pull that off: I know of no lint-free pockets. But with regard to the first -- the Hi-Fi Choice article actually addressed this: although it's still a headphone jack, the 1/4" one outputs 2V, so all you need is an adapter.
  20. Pfff. Purple is so much more...purple.
  21. Samsonite? I have a simple, black, leather laptop bag that has held up for years. It has a little divider to make my 15.6" Sony fit more snuggly without moving around, and the floor wart power supply fits nicely in the remaining space. It's got just enough structure to it to protect the laptop from the usual bumps and bruises, without being prohibitively heavy. I.E. it's not just a polypropylene sleeve. I'll look up the company when I get home. I want to say I spent $30 on it. I'm pretty hard on cases. This one has lasted so long because it's impossible to overfill, which is where most of the wear on the strap comes from, in my case -- the weight. So yes, it's probably good to get a laptop-only bag.
  22. See pic -- looks like the wood might flex a little bit, but I suspect that's undesirable -- I would treat it as a hard constraint.
  23. Those suggestions might be alright if he was single, but I'm sure he's going to want to share that experience once in a while. Focal XS 2.1? (a) They may be "voiced" for the nearfield since they're meant to be desktop speakers, (b ) not sure if they will go loud enough well, and (c ) don't know if they turn sideways well. Ditto Gallo Stradas (which also aren't active). Though they would be small enough. Does KRK have anything that small? I'm sure there are lots of actives in the professional and home/project studio market, I just happen to like KRK. And Mackie, but I know they don't have anything that small. Tannoy? Center channel speakers might work well there, but they aren't usually active -- I.E. two mid/bass's and a tweeter in d'onofrio...d'appolito (or however it's spelled) configuration. And a lot of professional/home studio/project speakers are designed to be oriented either way. M-Audio might have something that small. Just do something custom with a couple of cheap full-range drivers, so that you don't get weird edge effects (doubly so -- once for the speaker ending, and another for the hole starting).
