That was always my opinion also. Nice, but overpriced hardware and a good software platform. I have been teetering but will probably spring for one to give it a shot. I had high hopes for the squeezeboxes but Logiterd killed them. These guys remind me of the Squeezebox group in terms of their passion. Hopefully they will not sell out.
Mediacom. This surprised me as we had them for cable and Internet in SD and they were absolutely the worst. That is the main reason I stayed away from them when we moved here. Seems to be quite a bit of local variation.
Just upgraded our internets from slow ADSL to moderately fast cable. A pretty good start as they arrived on time, did their work quickly and efficiently and actually knew what they were talking about. Actually kind of scary as I think this may be one of the signs for the end of days.
Scary, but good news Steve. Since you don't drink, I'll have one for you.
Today, decided to try something better than our shitty adsl ISP. Set up an appointment to try Mediacom ultra 50. Not too confident, but we will have 90 days to give it a shot.
They must not like you . My drives were packaged about like yours but with a lot more bubble wrap and they were enclosed with paper padding on all sides. So definitely a step down from the previous packaging, but not really bad.
Although I'm no Dinny, in my experience the limitation is still the output stage but even the cheapie DACs like the Emotiva sound pretty damn good. Plus you are at a meet/show so there are many more sonic limitations that are more significant than the DAC.
