I used to ride a lot, not quite at Chris' level but did triathlon, duathlons and mountain/trail riding for a while until my my back and neck got in the way. Both of those issues seem to have gone away so I figured it was time again. Not sure what race I'm going to do but it will likely be a sprint distance tri or a duathlon (no swimming). I've dropped about 10 pounds in the last 3 or 4 weeks so feeling good again. I say just do it.
I did this about 10 years ago -- went from soft to gas permeable lens. I should start off by saying that I hate all contacts and fortunately, my eyes need very little correction other than for reading. It was the biggest pita to get used to them and I eventually gave up. I am told that once you get used to them, they do a better job of correcting your vision.
I'm bringing a PS500 to Jp's meet next week. Oz is a Grado dealer so he's giving me some gear to bring to the meet. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
I was at a party for one of my neighbors and I was introduced to another neighbor I didn't know who is into Scotch. He recommended the Balvenie. I am definitely enjoying it. At some point we are going to get together with a few other guys and do a tasting. I may need a recommendation for something that they are not likely to find at the local liquor store.
I'm thinking road bike, if I get a bike. Most riding will be just to ride. I can participate but I can't compete so having the fastest bike is not a big deal.
I went looking for road bikes yesterday. I'm back to thinking of road riding again. Nothing definite yet. I started running again and have thoughts of doing another triathlon. I need a break from marathons.
Haven't been in here for a while. Shelly, sorry about the surgery. Al, glad your feeling better. Vicki, if you have any questions after your meeting tomorrow, give me a call.
