  1. It sounds really good with the DAC, and I had that version for several weeks on the loaner program and for DanJam. Did you not hear it there? I think I *might* prefer the Pico DAC, but I didn't really do head-to-head comparisons. I think the TTVJ amp is better sounding and on balance would choose it over the Pico. When I bought one, I went with the amp only version because I just don't really use the Pico with DAC too often and for now I have both (well, Dom has the Pico physically) so I could pick that one for laptop usage when needed. I also think the TTVJ handles a wider range of cans with the gain switch and seemingly higher output. JP heard the amp/dac for awhile on loan, and Vicki and Doug and others heard it at DanJam I think.

  3. Happy birthday Ken, and make sure you are a good boy today so that Santa doesn't put you on the naughty list at the last minute! Cheers!
  4. The Feelies are one of the best of any decade in my book. That better be in the box, big boy! I have The Good Earth digitized somewhere to throw in there too.
  5. HoHoHo! Santa can make any excuse he wants for a little R&R, although I would prefer my cookies with a little B&B or some such. Erm, isn't that one of their touted benefits, oh true believer? Awesome, dude. Can 12 year olds drink in Atlantis? Cause that would make it all the better... Jeez, I got drinking on my mind. Better get going to JP's to pick up the Amarra Model 4 so's I can's get my hi-rez on over Christmas. And for a little beer drinking and music listening since I'm there.

    Beyer T1

I am not part of your "all" so maybe you shouldn't speak for me. Some people did think the HD800 wasn't innovative, but I think they are wrong in terms of the application and the execution and related technologies. Reading the related Senn patents would lead to the same conclusion for some but not all people on this forum. On the other hand, based not on specific knowledge of the T1 but only on repeated exposure to shitty Beyer headphones, I have concluded that these headphones aren't worth their price or otherwise "special" in any way. I realize I could be proven wrong, but I doubt it.

  9. Literally the only music that would console our then-infant daughter for a substantial period was Esquivel's Space Age Bachelor Pad Music. It was funny for awhile and then I couldn't barely stand to hear that disc any more.
  10. Really too bad truth in advertising laws don't require those to be called "Turd Smugglers" or similar.
  11. Any real Kinks fan will love that Choral Collection, even though as one review pointed out it should have been kalled the Kinks Khoral Kollection to honor tradition. Anyway, the Rockhopper Twitter feed prompted this one: Aimee Mann -- One More Drifter in the Snow
  12. Fred was overcooked when he wrote that.
  13. Ray Davies -- The Kinks Choral Collection
  14. Congrats on the great-looking new site, Stephen, and best of luck with the new business model. It seems like the right choice and gives you a lot more control over work flow, etc. Plus, now I know that you have 14 gadgets and want 3 more gadgets! Cheers.
  15. It's so nice when things work out peacefully and without the need for shovels.
  16. Having a ham & cheese buns from a Chinese bakery. Pretty bland and the girl at the counter did not inspire any fantasies at all.
  17. Sad situation, Miguel. How did it get fried?
  18. Echo and the Bunnymen -- The Fountain
  19. Or an anchor for his wee skiff Doug told me he had, or was that spliff?
  20. I hate Best Buy. You made the right choice by leaving and enjoying wine and chili!
  21. First time listening, as far as I can recall. It is great so far.
  22. Wayne Shorter -- The Soothsayer
  23. While I was out of the office yesterday, Elephas's package arrived from Taiwan. It seemed awfully bulky in a padded envelope and I wondered if it was a tall stack of CDs. He didn't wait to open his package, so why should I? Instead of only being a stack of CDs, it was a "Taiwan-style" headphone case with more goodies inside! I love the similar case I already have and use it all the time. I think I got that from an Elephas give-away years ago, which is kind of ironic. Now the HF-1 and HF-2 don't have to fight for rights to the case and each can sit happily in its own. Also inside the case was a baggie of the RCA caps that Michael loves so much, so I can tweak a little Elephas-style. Oh, yeah, the music. I am currently listening to Musik von einem anderen Stern, which is a sampler CD from Manger with very cool recordings from lots of genres and spoken voice in German (one of my favorite sounding languages). Then there are two SACDs, one is the 30th Anniversary Sampler from Opus 3 Records and the other is Master Music's Female Audiophile collection. Very nice stuff all around, and very generous of you Michael. Thanks!
