  4. Sucks big time Steve but I give about zero chance of recovery. I do have lots of cassette tapes in case you want some new tunes to check out onthe Nakamichi. Let me know and I can send you a package.
  5. Shpongle -- Tales of the Inexpressible flying just makes me want to get Shpongled for some reason.
  6. Ha Ha Ha Ha! I am lol'ing about that one!
  7. thanks Mike. Either Steve can post or I will get the info and do it. It was small stuff -- resistor, maybe that diode, and a bad solder joint -- and nothing in the amp. He bought another one of the transformer that looked cooked and the new looked exactly the same! thanks again Kevin.
  8. Thanks everyone. I don't think I will be taking this one to meets anytime soon. Thanks for the offer JP, and we can chat about how to retrieve it eventually. For now, Steve is burning in the new parts and making sure it stays functional. Hopefully he'll listen along the way too.
  9. !! back at ya Reks! Hey, weren't you going to send me some home brew or something like that? No word on Neil except that the tech was pretty much unwilling to work on the PS. Not sure how the issues compare, but his sounds even worse...
  10. THIS JUST IN! ironbut reports that he has resurrected Satan's Demonic Sauce! Steve has had the amp for a couple weeks and after reading all of the comments in this thread and testing parts and replacing some parts and doing some kind of deal with the devil, the amp is back to form as of this evening. I am thrilled and hopeful that we can keep it that way for awhile. Thanks so much for the help of KG and the rest of those who posted here. I may yet have a new PS built at some point along the lines Kevin proposed but for now I will just cross my fingers and listen to it. Most thanks go to Steve, of course, and I really owe him for his efforts (in more ways than one!) Maybe there is hope for some of the others out there struggling... In honor of the passing of the great Walter Cronkite, I will borrow his sign-off: And that's the way it is.
  11. Richard Thompson Band -- Live! Semi-Detached Mock Tudor
  12. Why do you toy with us?
  13. Goldfrapp -- Seventh Tree
  14. I paid $20 and $50 for impressions by Kathy Peck at different times.
  15. I'm pretty sure I just sent Dan my 4070s to try out with his BH. Hmm.
  16. HBD Neil!
  17. 1. Woke up in SF at 5am Pacific. 2. Went to the airport and found out that my 7:30 American flight was canceled. 3. Got the travel agent to re-book my colleague and me on United at 7:28. 4. Arrived at the hotel in Times Square after a looong cab ride. Lots of people and police on the street when I ran a quick errand to get some beverages and snacks at Duane Read. Thought it must be a Late Night stunt. 5. Within the first 30 minutes, I heard live music and realized it was Paul McCartney who is on the show right now. 6. Went out to check it out and watched 6 great songs played from the balcony of the studio. Thought how amazing this was. [Above the LATE NIGHT marquee in a pink shirt] 7. Went to Tribeca to meet The Monkey for dinner and drinks at Brandy Library. We had a great time drinking whiskies and eating some nosh. 8. Left the restaurant and walked down the street to get a cab. Who else but David Letterman, Billy Crystal and a woman were chatting on the sidewalk as we went by. Nice way to round out the NY evening. 9. Now watching Letterman interviewing Sir Paul on TV. Life is pretty good.
  18. Why can't you? It's after the exam.
  19. Happy birthday, protector of the public interest! Cheers
  20. Bjork -- Voltaic (Live)
  21. Tiny Vipers -- Life On Earth
  22. The Most Serene Republic -- ...And the Ever Expanding Universe
  23. ^? I got this Kennsington Slimblade and the fricking thing will not stay paired with the Mac Mini consistently. Not sure if there is anything to be done...
  24. I like it. Her voice has the same quality but the instrumentation seems a bit more big, lush and orchestral than the last one. Interested to hear what the album sounds like.
  25. New Roman Times -- On the Sleeve
